PHYSICAL MEDICINE & REHAB (IN-PHMR-IUINA)
The Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) has a strong history of achievement in medical research, education and patient care. PM&R, also known as physiatry, treats conditions involving the body's nervous and musculoskeletal systems that limit a person's ability to function.
The teaching faculty in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation oversees the only PM&R residency program in the state of Indiana and are eager to uphold the mission of educating the country's next generation of physiatrists.
- Evaluates and treats patients referred for physical therapy services including proper and timely documentation
- Provides services that help restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent or limit permanent physical disabilities of patients suffering from injuries or disease
- Assists in updating and modifying procedures within in own working area
- Examines patient's medical history, evaluates their physical abilities, determines their potential to respond to therapy, and develops treatment plans
- Follows approved standards of rehabilitative care indicated for the patient's medical symptoms
Combinations of related education and experience may be considered. Education beyond the minimum required may be substituted for work experience. Work experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted for education.
EDUCATION
Required
- Bachelor's degree in physical therapy from a CAPTE approved curriculum OR
- Master's degree in physical therapy from a CAPTE approved curriculum OR
- Ph.D. in physical therapy from a CAPTE approved curriculum
Required
WORK EXPERIENCE
- 2 years of experience in a clinical setting
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATES
Required
- Physical Therapy upon date of hire
- CPR within 30 days from date of hire

- Ability to build strong customer relationships
This role requires sedentary work as well as extended durations of moving about the workplace. It requires the ability to move objects and equipment weighing up to 25 pounds, and the ability to discern between various objects and devices and to position patients.
