Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE)

IDR is seeking a

Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE)

to join one of our top clients for a remote opportunity. In this role, you’ll help modernize enterprise infrastructure by building scalable automation and platform engineering solutions across areas like network, compute, storage, cloud, and identity.

You’ll work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to reduce technical debt, improve reliability, and accelerate infrastructure delivery through software-driven automation.

Position Overview for the Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE):

• Design and develop infrastructure automation solutions using modern software engineering practices
• Build and maintain Infrastructure-as-Code and configuration management to standardize provisioning and operations
• Develop APIs and integrations to connect infrastructure systems and enable automated workflows
• Improve platform reliability, scalability, and operational efficiency through automation and testing
• Partner with multiple engineering domains (cloud, identity, network, compute, storage) to support modernization initiatives

Requirements for the Forward Deployed Engineer (FDE):

• 6–9 years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, infrastructure automation, or similar roles
• Strong hands-on development skills with Java and Python
• Experience building Infrastructure-as-Code using Terraform
• Experience with configuration management and automation using Ansible
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and systems integration via APIs
