Job description
About this role
OverviewAbout us
Fe3 Construct is a Central Florida general contractor (CGC1538369) building custom steel-frame homes, barndominiums, ICF, and hybrid systems, plus commercial work. We want to handle pre-construction in-house: custom floor plans, design, and permit-ready documentation. We need a drafter who can take a project from concept to a plan set the building department will approve.
What you’ll do
- Produce complete, permit-ready construction drawings for custom residential projects: floor plans, elevations, sections, roof plans, foundation plans, details, and site plans
- Turn client concepts and our SketchUp design models into clean CAD plan sets
- Coordinate with structural engineers, energy/HVAC designers (Manual J/D/S), and surveyors to put together full permit packages
- Make drawings compliant with the Florida Building Code (Residential), including wind-load and flood-zone requirements
- Respond to building department plan review comments and run client revisions
- Keep drawing standards, title blocks, and sheet sets consistent across projects
What we’re looking for
- 2+ years drafting residential construction documents that were actually permitted, ideally in Florida
- Strong in [AutoCAD / Revit / Chief Architect]; SketchUp is a plus
- Working knowledge of the Florida Building Code and how plan review works
- Understands how buildings go together: framing, foundations, roof systems. Metal building, ICF, or steel-frame experience is a big plus
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage several projects at once without missing deadlines
- Takes markups and plan review comments without ego and turns revisions around quickly
Nice to have
- Associate’s degree or certificate in drafting, architectural technology, or similar
- Experience coordinating with engineers on wind and structural details
- Familiarity with energy code compliance documentation
- Kitchen, cabinetry, or closet layout experience
What we offer
- Either Salary or Project based pay.
- Steady project pipeline, currently selling 3-5 preconstruction agreements per month
- Direct line to the builders. You’ll see your drawings get built.
- Office in Largo, FL. This is an in-office role.
