Job description
About this role
About The Role
The role owns native mobile experiences used by millions of users daily - building and maintaining iOS and Android applications where performance, offline behavior, battery efficiency, and release cadence all matter.
The engineer will work within a cross-functional mobile guild alongside product designers, backend engineers, and QA to ship user-facing features on a bi-weekly release cycle, with real ownership over architecture decisions and app store rollout strategy.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, ship, and maintain production iOS (Swift/SwiftUI) and Android (Kotlin/Compose) applications, owning features end-to-end from spec to App Store and Play Store release
- Architect shared cross-platform components where appropriate using Kotlin Multiplatform or React Native, and make pragmatic native-vs-shared tradeoffs
- Integrate REST and GraphQL APIs, implement local caching and offline-first behavior, and handle edge cases around network reliability and background execution
- Instrument applications for observability: crash reporting (Crashlytics, Sentry), performance monitoring, and funnel analytics to drive prioritization
- Optimize app performance - startup time, memory footprint, jank, and battery drain - using profiling tools like Instruments and Android Profiler
- Participate in code reviews, write unit and UI tests (XCTest, JUnit, Espresso), and contribute to CI/CD pipelines using Fastlane, Bitrise, or GitHub Actions
- Collaborate with design to translate Figma specs into polished, accessible interfaces that meet platform conventions and WCAG standards
What We Are Looking For
- 3+ years of professional mobile engineering experience shipping native apps to the App Store and/or Play Store
- Deep proficiency in Swift and SwiftUI or UIKit (iOS), or Kotlin and Jetpack Compose (Android); cross-platform experience on top of native is a plus
- Strong grasp of mobile architecture patterns: MVVM, modularization, dependency injection (Hilt, Swinject), and reactive programming (Combine, Coroutines/Flow)
- Experience integrating with backend APIs at scale, including auth flows, pagination, retry/backoff strategies, and versioning
- Familiarity with the full release lifecycle: feature flags, staged rollouts, crash triage, and hotfix processes
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
- Bonus: experience with KMP, mobile CI/CD ownership, app store optimization, accessibility implementation, or prior work on apps with 1M+ MAU
