Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Occupational Therapist to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will assess, plan, and implement personalized occupational therapy programs that enhance patients' functional independence and quality of life. Your expertise will support individuals across diverse settings, including inpatient units, outpatient clinics, schools, and home health environments.
You will collaborate closely with interdisciplinary teams to develop effective treatment plans, assist with activities of daily living (ADLs), and facilitate successful discharge planning. Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments to evaluate clients’ physical, cognitive, sensory, and emotional needs.
- Develop individualized treatment plans aligned with client goals, medical diagnoses, and best practices in occupational therapy.
- Implement targeted occupational therapy programs to improve motor skills, sensory processing, self-care abilities, and adaptive techniques.
- Assist clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including dressing, grooming, feeding, and personal hygiene.
- Coordinate discharge planning by preparing clients for transition to home or other care settings while ensuring continuity of care.
- Document clinical progress and treatment outcomes accurately in electronic health records (EHR) following medical documentation standards.
- Collaborate with speech therapists, physical therapists, physicians, educators, and case managers to optimize client care plans.
- Support clients with neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism spectrum disorders by applying specialized intervention strategies.
- Provide education and training to clients’ families or caregivers on therapeutic exercises and adaptive techniques.
- Participate in clinical interprofessional collaboration to ensure holistic patient care across all service areas.
Experience
- Proven experience working as an Occupational Therapist in various settings such as inpatient acute care units, skilled nursing facilities, outpatient clinics, or school environments.
- Demonstrated expertise in pediatric occupational therapy including early intervention and school-based services for students with disabilities or special education needs.
- Experience working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders like autism spectrum disorders and other disabilities requiring tailored interventions.
- Familiarity with occupational therapy assessments related to physical rehabilitation, geriatrics, occupational health, and post-acute care environments.
- Knowledge of anatomy and physiology principles relevant to occupational therapy practice.
- Skilled in developing treatment plans that incorporate evidence-based practices for diverse patient populations.
- Ability to manage medical documentation accurately using electronic health records (EHR) systems while adhering to clinical documentation standards.
- Strong client communication skills paired with the ability to work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams for optimal patient outcomes.
- Prior experience working with students with disabilities or special education needs is highly desirable.
