About this role

Position Summary

The Director of Information Technology & Business Systems is responsible for developing and executing the Company’s technology strategy while ensuring reliable, secure, and scalable technology solutions that support manufacturing, distribution, finance, sales, and corporate operations.

This role extends well beyond traditional IT infrastructure. The Director is responsible for the Company’s enterprise applications, operational software, systems integration, cybersecurity, reporting platforms, and technology roadmap. The position serves as the primary business partner between operations, finance, and technology, ensuring systems support business objectives and drive operational efficiency.

The ideal candidate is equally comfortable discussing network security with an IT vendor, improving warehouse technology, implementing ERP enhancements, evaluating software solutions, and partnering with executive leadership on long-term technology strategy.

Primary Areas of OwnershipTechnology Strategy

· Develop and maintain the Company’s long-term technology roadmap

· Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend strategic investments

· Align technology initiatives with business objectives

· Identify opportunities to automate manual processes and improve operational efficiency

Enterprise Applications

Own the overall performance, administration, and strategic direction of business applications including:

· Microsoft Dynamics 365

· Agvance

· Reporting platforms

· Payroll and HR systems

· Banking and treasury platforms

· CRM and customer service applications

· Manufacturing and warehouse systems

· Mobile technologies supporting field operations

Systems Integration & Data Management

· Develop and oversee the Company’s systems integration strategy

· Improve data quality and governance across applications

· Reduce duplicate data entry and manual processes

· Ensure reliable reporting across departments

· Partner with Finance to improve executive reporting and business intelligence

Infrastructure & Technical Operations

· Maintain network infrastructure, servers, cloud environments, and communications systems

· Ensure high system availability across all facilities

· Oversee hardware lifecycle management

· Manage help desk operations and end-user support

· Develop disaster recovery and business continuity plans

Cybersecurity & Risk Management

· Develop and maintain cybersecurity policies and procedures

· Oversee endpoint protection, MFA, backups, firewalls, and network security

· Coordinate vulnerability assessments and remediation

· Maintain security awareness training

· Ensure compliance with cybersecurity best practices

Vendor & Contract Management

· Manage relationships with software vendors, managed service providers, telecommunications providers, and technology consultants

· Negotiate software licensing and support agreements

· Monitor vendor performance and service levels

· Control IT spending and technology budgets

Technology Project Management

Lead technology initiatives including:

· ERP enhancements

· Software implementations

· Warehouse technology improvements

· Manufacturing system improvements

· Infrastructure upgrades

· Reporting and dashboard initiatives

· Process automation projects

Core Day-to-Day Responsibilities

· Provide leadership and direction for all IT operations

· Prioritize and manage technology projects

· Monitor infrastructure performance and system availability

· Review cybersecurity alerts and risk mitigation activities

· Coordinate with Finance and Operations regarding technology priorities

· Meet with department leaders to identify technology improvements

· Oversee IT vendors and service providers

· Manage technology budgets and capital planning

· Resolve critical technology issues impacting operations

· Support executive leadership with strategic technology planning

Leadership Expectations

The Director of Information Technology & Business Systems is expected to operate as a business leader, not simply an IT resource.

This individual should:

· Build strong partnerships across Operations, Finance, Sales, Manufacturing, HR, and Executive Leadership.

· Translate business needs into practical technology solutions.

· Challenge outdated processes and recommend improvements.

· Establish standards, governance, and accountability for technology across the organization.

· Lead change management efforts associated with new systems and technology initiatives.

· Develop and mentor internal IT resources while effectively managing third-party vendors.

Success in this role will be measured not only by system uptime, but by improvements in operational efficiency, reporting capabilities, business process automation, cybersecurity posture, and user satisfaction.

Preferred Experience

· Manufacturing and distribution industry experience

· Multi-site operational support

· ERP implementation and administration

· Microsoft Dynamics 365

· Agvance or similar agricultural ERP platforms

· Business intelligence and reporting tools (Power BI preferred)

· Warehouse management systems

· Manufacturing execution systems

· Cloud infrastructure and Microsoft 365 administration

· Cybersecurity and disaster recovery planning

· IT project management

Preferred Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field

· 8+ years of progressive IT leadership experience

· Experience leading technology strategy in a manufacturing or distribution environment

· Strong understanding of ERP systems, systems integration, cybersecurity, networking, and business applications

· Proven experience leading cross-functional technology projects

· Excellent communication, leadership, and change management skills

Pay: From $150,000.00 per year
