Role Overview
The Systems Engineer plays a crucial role in ensuring the optimal performance and reliability of P25 public safety radio systems for their assigned region. These systems are essential for effective communication in emergency services and public safety agencies. In addition to technical responsibilities, the Systems Engineer actively engages with customers, prospects, partners, and internal personnel.
This communication is aimed at fostering collaboration and aiding in the development of new offerings that align seamlessly with our customer needs, ultimately enhancing the effectiveness of public safety communication solutions. The Systems Engineer's expertise and engagement are vital components in advancing the standing of our organization in the industry.
Responsibilities:
- Provide field support for large, complex public safety communication systems in Nashville, TN and surrounding counties, including analog/digital radio networks, IP networks, microwave links, and wireless data, with travel to other areas as needed.
- Lead and mentor technicians, contributing to talent development.
- Collaborate with management and customers to identify, present, and implement enhancement opportunities.
- Develop needs assessments for state and local government agencies and support sales presentations.
- Generate and present project schedules and goals, ensuring adherence to timelines.
- Participate in or lead discussions with customers, consultants, vendors, and other personnel.
Qualifications & Requirements
Required:
- 5+ years of experience in maintaining large public safety radio networks.
- Extensive knowledge of L3Harris land mobile radio (LMR) systems, simulcast, P25 radio technology, MNI microwave systems, Revcord Recorders
- Knowledge of Tait Simulcast, Nexedge Trunking, Telex Consoles, Siren Systems with Federal Signal Controllers activated by Command One.
- Technical proficiency in Linux, Microsoft, Cisco networking devices, Firepower firewalls, VMware & Hyper V.
- Linux Command Line
- Radio programming for: Kenwood, Tait, Harris, Kenwood Viking
- Strong proficiency in computer skills, including networking.
- Knowledge of telecommunications test equipment.
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, networking principles, and network security.
- Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Telecommunications, Computer/Network Engineering, or a related field.
- Professional certifications (e.g., CCNA, CompTIA Network+, P25 Master Technician, GROL).
Travel
Approximately 25%.
This role is based in Nashville, Tennessee. It isn’t remote.
