Occupational Therapist Job Description
*This position will travel between Troy and Utica locations*
Occupational therapists treat patients with injuries, illnesses, or disabilities through the therapeutic use of everyday activities. They help these patients develop, recover, and improve the skills needed for daily living and working.
- Provide standardized assessments and evaluations in home and community for the clients
- Provide treatment for clients through meaningful interventions weekly- many of these interventions take place in client’s homes, community, and/or clubhouse
- Complete daily progress notes and participates in discharge notes including recommendations after OT services are completed.
- Complete all paperwork in appropriate time and uploads all evaluations/progress notes onto server daily.
- Participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings providing a comprehensive summary of OT services being provided to client such as current goals and current progression towards goals.
- Collaborating with clinical team and clients to create therapy clinical schedule.
- Weekly written updates describing summary of tasks completed throughout week
- Weekly work log recording working hours for payroll department.
- Completing weekly expense report for gas mileage and therapy-related expenses
- Activity log weekly to report on tasks/sessions completed daily.
- Monthly update counts (utilizing therapy tracker) reporting how many therapy sessions each client attended.
- Attends manager meetings weekly.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited university required.
- Knowledge and experience of occupational issues related to TBI patients.
- Ability to perform all duties and responsibilities of the job description.
- Suitable personal appearance, behavior, attitude and integrity.
- Able to problem solve, make decisions, set priorities and document in an effective and timely manner.
- Current licensure to practice Occupational therapy in the State of Michigan.
- Reliable means of transportation; current Michigan’s driver’s license, automobile insurance.
- Has prior work experience with demonstrated competency in job duties.
- Communicate effectively and efficiently, both verbally and in writing as well as keep accurately and orderly records.
- Able to work effectively within a team approach as well as independently.
- Computer and software literate.'
