Java Software Developer | Quantitative Technology Company 📍 Chicago | New York At ColJob, we're helping a leading company in the quantitative trading and technology sector find an exceptional Java Software Developer to join its engineering team.

This is an opportunity to work on sophisticated technology supporting automated trading and large-scale quantitative research across global financial markets. 🚀 The Opportunity You'll work closely with experienced engineers, researchers and systems teams to solve technically challenging problems where performance, scalability, reliability and correctness truly matter.

Your work may include

Developing high-performance Java systems Building and improving distributed systems and research infrastructure Working with large-scale storage and networking environments Optimising latency, throughput and system performance Diagnosing complex performance and reliability issues Designing scalable infrastructure for quantitative research Improving communication between distributed components Building monitoring and proactive detection capabilities Evaluating new technologies and architectural approaches Working directly with researchers to design effective technical solutions Supporting infrastructure behind a 24-hour automated trading platform 🧠 What They're Looking For The team is looking for exceptional software engineers , not candidates who simply match a checklist.

You should have

Strong software engineering and computer-science fundamentals Excellent algorithmic and problem-solving skills Exceptional Java programming ability Experience with or strong understanding of distributed systems, networking and/or storage The ability to reason across different levels of abstraction Genuine curiosity about how complex systems work Experience building scalable, maintainable and thoroughly tested software The ability to work autonomously while collaborating with highly capable teams A low-ego mindset and a genuine focus on finding the right answer Experience with Linux, distributed computing, networking, storage systems or performance engineering is highly valuable.

Knowledge or experience with C++ is a plus, but not required. 💡 Previous trading or financial services experience is not required. 💰 Compensation & Benefits U.S.
