Design is seeking a qualified and experienced Interior Designer to support the CEO/Principal in a part-time contract position. This role leads design projects from initial launch through completion, and is responsible for management and coordination throughout the duration of the projects, while ensuring compliance with project timelines and budgets.

The Interior Designer is responsible for executing project deliverables while exceeding client expectations and providing an exceptional client experience.

Essential Role Responsibilities

This job description accurately represents the current primary duties of the Interior Designer position, but may be adapted as necessary to meet the needs of the business. The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work. Other duties may be assigned and/or required.

  • Management & Coordination of Design Projects
  • Leads Project Kick-Off Meetings to align with client’s design direction and document measurements of all project space(s) and existing furnishings based on the scope of work.
  • Own design presentation development and preparation of project deliverables such as design boards, Google Slide/PowerPoint files, etc. to ensure client and company needs, expectations, and quality standards are exceeded.
  • Create, edit, and complete project layouts, 3D renderings, and/or elevations as needed in AutoCAD or Sketchup.
  • Source products, furnishings, materials, fixtures, accessories, and finishes for client projects both remote and in-person as needed while ensuring selections are within project budgets.
  • Create and regularly update project FF&E schedules in Google Sheets.
  • Properly track project expenses.
  • Lead internal and client facing design meetings and presentations while documenting decisions, project notes and approvals.
  • Source alternatives for backordered or discontinued items and recommend viable options for client selection.
  • Analyze and resolve complex technical, design, and installation challenges or issues in a proactive, professional manner.
  • Act as client, vendor, and general contractor liaison as needed.
  • Contribute to weekly client project updates to ensure clear, consistent, and timely communication between company and clients throughout the design project.
  • Provide exceptional client/customer service throughout the design process.
  • Ensure projects are completed on schedule and within budget.
  • Act as primary point of contact onsite to oversee client appointments, deliveries, installations, site visits, and trade appointments to ensure projects are executed correctly and completely.
  • Coordinate and support trade vendor and installation appointments to ensure vendor(s) have necessary products ordered by CNC Home & Design and clear installation instructions.
  • Attend new client consultations, document notes and photos, and compile consultation reports.
  • Prepare for and coordinate project photo shoots on site as needed.
  • Bring new ideas, methodologies, process improvements, and new clients/projects to the company.

Qualifications & Technical Skills

  • Interior Design degree, 7+ years of relevant work experience in the interior design or architecture industry, and 3+ years of project management experience required.
  • Proficiency in design software (AutoCAD and/or SketchUp) and MS Office, G-Suite, Zoom, and Asana required.
  • Must currently live within the greater Cleveland, Ohio area.
  • Travel for client consultations, meetings, and deliveries in and around the Cleveland, Ohio area where available/applicable. Contractor is responsible for providing their own reliable source of transportation and must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Will need access to a reliable laptop, mouse, 2 monitor, and Wi-Fi to use our web-based systems and platforms.
  • Proficiency in design and industry software (MyDoma Studio, Illustrator, Chief Architect, InDesign, Photoshop), Canva, Asana, and Harvest preferred.
  • Must have design sensibility that understands and lends itself to our signature modern coastal/traditional style and functionality.
  • Responsibilities may include moving furniture and unboxing items. Candidate must be physically able to perform various installation project requirements such as lifting, standing for long periods, using a ladder, and other physical duties.

Position Specifications

This is a 1099 Independent Contractor, hybrid role (combining remote administrative work with on-site work), not to exceed 30 hours per week. Compensation is based on experience. Additional travel responsibilities required for client, trade, and vendor appointments as needed.

Weekly hours, appointments, and schedule may vary depending on the company's work load and current projects.
