Job description
About this role
Job Summary
As a Hardware Design Engineer, you’ll develop, test, and refine electronic hardware for industrial and manufacturing applications. You’ll contribute across the design lifecycle, from electrical schematics and printed circuit board (PCB) layouts to system verification and production support.
Your work may involve field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs), systems on chip (SoCs), firmware, control systems, and communications systems. You’ll collaborate with engineering and manufacturing partners to turn requirements into reliable, testable designs.
Responsibilities
- Create and review circuit designs, electrical schematics, PCB designs, and electrical system designs using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
- Develop and verify hardware and system designs using simulation tools, engineering testing, oscilloscopes, ohmmeters, soldering, and vision inspection systems.
- Debug prototypes and production issues; apply root cause analysis to guide corrective actions and improve manufacturability.
- Support project scheduling, automation, industrial automation, and manufacturing handoffs; document design decisions and test results.
- Your impact: By identifying design issues early and validating fixes, you help manufacturing teams build dependable products and customers use them with confidence.
Experience
- Electrical engineering or equivalent practical electrical experience, including electronics design, design engineering, circuit design, and electrical schematic design.
- Experience with PCB and surface mount technology; familiarity with FPGA, SystemVerilog, ARM, Arduino, programmable logic controllers, and firmware is useful.
- Programming or scripting experience with Python, C++, Perl, MATLAB, or Simulink; knowledge of signal processing, system development verification, and debugging is valued.
- Familiarity with Altium, Revit, MicroStation, SolidWorks, NEC, NFPA 70 compliance, and electrical building codes is preferred. Quantum engineering, mechanical knowledge, and communications systems expertise are also beneficial.
- Practicing in an industrial or manufacturing engineering role, with experience in engineering troubleshooting, control systems, and electrical systems, is an advantage.
