About Blackrock Strategy

Blackrock Strategy, Inc. (BrS) provides engineering, operational, analytical, and technical services supporting the Department of War, Intelligence Community, and commercial customers. Our teams support test and evaluation, experimentation, systems integration, operational planning, and technology transition across national security programs.

Position Overview

Blackrock Strategy is seeking a Data Scientist / UX Product Designer to develop data-driven insights and intuitive user experiences supporting mission-critical operational and enterprise decision-making.

This hybrid position combines data analytics, performance measurement, user research, and product design to transform complex information into actionable tools for military operators, commanders, and senior Government leaders.

Working alongside operational users and engineering teams, the successful candidate will analyze performance data, identify opportunities for improvement, and design practical solutions that enhance usability, accelerate decision-making, and support continuous capability development.

Candidates with strong expertise in either data science or UX/product design and working knowledge of the complementary discipline are encouraged to apply.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyze operational, behavioral, and technical performance data to identify trends, anomalies, system effectiveness, and adaptation rates.
  • Develop dashboards, visualizations, and analytical products supporting operational and enterprise decision-making.
  • Establish and monitor performance metrics measuring product effectiveness, data integration, decision-cycle efficiency, and organizational learning.
  • Conduct user research with military operators and Government stakeholders to identify workflows, requirements, and operational challenges.
  • Design intuitive interfaces, interaction patterns, and product experiences optimized for tactical and enterprise environments.
  • Develop and rapidly refine prototypes through usability testing, operational feedback, and iterative product development.
  • Create analytical models and automated performance-feedback mechanisms supporting evidence-based decisions and capability improvement.
  • Collaborate with data engineers, software developers, and product teams to align analytical requirements, system functionality, and user experience.
  • Support operational experimentation, technology demonstrations, and fielding activities to validate product effectiveness.
  • Document analytical methods, design standards, and product requirements to support long-term Government sustainment.

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship and active Secret security clearance.
  • Demonstrated experience in data science, data analytics, UX design, product design, or a related technical discipline.
  • Strong analytical skills, including exploratory data analysis, performance metrics, visualization, and interpretation of complex datasets.
  • Experience with user research, interaction design, interface development, usability testing, or rapid prototyping.
  • Ability to translate technical data and operational requirements into actionable insights and practical product solutions.
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering teams and operational stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and technical documentation skills.
  • Ability to support embedded, operator-facing work and rapidly evolving mission requirements.
  • Valid U.S. passport and willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Human-Computer Interaction, UX Design, or a related field.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance or eligibility.
  • Experience operating within SIPRNet or comparable classified environments, including accreditation activities.
  • Familiarity with the Maven ecosystem and its application to operational analytics.
  • Prior military service or experience supporting DoD, Intelligence Community, or aerospace and defense programs.
  • Experience developing analytical dashboards, computational models, or operational decision-support products.
  • Familiarity with human-centered design, Agile development, and iterative product-delivery methodologies.
  • Experience supporting operational experimentation, rapid prototyping, or technology fielding.
  • Relevant professional certifications in data science, analytics, UX design, or product management; equivalent demonstrated experience accepted.

Work Environment

  • On-site customer, analytical, technical, and operational field activities within the NCR.
  • Work may involve classified systems, Government facilities, and coordination with military and technical stakeholders.
  • Field activities may require prolonged sitting or standing and exposure to varying environmental conditions.
