About Blackrock Strategy

Blackrock Strategy, Inc. (BrS) provides engineering, operational, analytical, and technical services supporting the Department of War, Intelligence Community, and commercial customers. Our teams support test and evaluation, experimentation, systems integration, operational planning, and technology transition across national security programs.

Position Overview

Blackrock Strategy is seeking a Data Engineer / Systems Integration Engineer to design, develop, and sustain the data infrastructure supporting mission-critical operational systems and enterprise analytics.

This position is responsible for building scalable data pipelines, data lakes, and integration frameworks that connect disparate systems into a unified information environment. The engineer will establish a digital thread linking warfighter requirements, capability development, operational performance, and continuous improvement.

Working alongside military operators, Government stakeholders, and engineering teams, the successful candidate will develop secure, reliable data solutions that improve information accessibility, accelerate decision-making, and support rapid capability development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data-ingestion pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and automated data workflows.
  • Architect and sustain data lake and lakehouse environments, including systems supporting classified information.
  • Integrate disparate applications, databases, and operational systems into a unified data architecture.
  • Establish and maintain digital-thread capabilities connecting requirements, development, operational employment, and performance assessment.
  • Develop data models, schemas, and integration interfaces supporting analytics, applications, and decision-support tools.
  • Implement data-quality, validation, lineage, governance, and access-control practices.
  • Develop automated performance-feedback mechanisms supporting operational analysis and continuous capability improvement.
  • Collaborate with platform engineers, data scientists, and product teams to ensure secure, reliable system interoperability.
  • Troubleshoot integration challenges, optimize data performance, and support operational experimentation and fielding activities.
  • Maintain technical documentation supporting data architecture, integration processes, and long-term Government sustainment.

Required Qualifications

  • U.S. Citizenship and active Secret security clearance.
  • Demonstrated experience in data engineering, systems integration, or related technical disciplines.
  • Strong knowledge of data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, data modeling, and data lake or lakehouse architectures.
  • Experience integrating heterogeneous systems, databases, and data formats.
  • Understanding of data quality, lineage, governance, and secure information-management practices.
  • Experience working with secured or restricted data environments.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and technical documentation skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams and operational stakeholders.
  • Ability to support embedded, operator-facing work and rapidly evolving mission requirements.
  • Valid U.S. passport and willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Systems Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance or eligibility.
  • Experience operating within SIPRNet or comparable classified environments, including accreditation activities.
  • Familiarity with the Maven ecosystem and its data integration architecture.
  • Prior military service or experience supporting DoD, Intelligence Community, or aerospace and defense programs.
  • Proficiency with Python, SQL, Apache Spark, Airflow, Kafka, or comparable data engineering technologies.
  • Experience with cloud, hybrid, or on-premises data infrastructure, APIs, and interoperability frameworks.
  • Familiarity with DevSecOps, CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and secure deployment practices.
  • Experience supporting operational experimentation, rapid prototyping, or capability fielding.
  • Relevant professional certifications in data engineering, cloud architecture, or systems engineering; equivalent demonstrated experience accepted.

Work Environment

  • On-site customer, technical engineering, and operational field activities within the NCR.
  • Work may involve classified systems, Government facilities, and coordination with military and technical stakeholders.
  • Field activities may require prolonged sitting or standing and exposure to varying environmental conditions.
  • Standard Monday–Friday schedule, with occasional extended hours or weekend support.
  • Approximately 25% CONUS and OCONUS travel.
