About Big Easy Management
Big Easy Management is a growing hospitality property management company based in New Orleans. We manage approximately 200 active rentals, including vacation rentals, and boutique hotels.
We're a small, collaborative team with high standards. We take pride in delivering exceptional experiences for our property owners and guests while building a company where employees can take ownership, contribute ideas, and make a meaningful impact.
We value transparency, accountability, problem-solving, and continuous improvement. As we continue to grow, we're looking for people who are excited to grow with us.
About the Position
We're looking for a detail-oriented, organized, and self-motivated Staff Accountant to join our finance team.
Accounting in hospitality property management is different from accounting in a traditional business. Our team manages financial activity across a large portfolio of properties, including owner statements and distributions, vendor payments, reservation revenue, tax filings, and financial reporting.
This creates a fast-paced environment with a particularly busy monthly accounting and reporting cycle. Accuracy, organization, and the ability to manage multiple priorities are essential.
We're looking for someone who takes ownership of their work without needing constant supervision. You'll have support from our finance leadership and operations teams, but we expect you to manage deadlines, communicate proactively, identify discrepancies, and help solve problems.
This is an opportunity to join a growing company where you'll have meaningful responsibilities and the ability to help improve how our accounting department operates.

- Assist with budgeting, financial analysis, and reporting as needed.
- Maintain organized financial records and support strong internal accounting controls.
Property Management & Owner Accounting
- Assist with monthly property owner statements, reconciliations, and distributions.
- Review property-level income and expenses to ensure transactions are accurately recorded and allocated.
- Reconcile reservation revenue, guest payments, refunds, and other property-related transactions.
- Coordinate with operations and other departments to resolve billing and accounting discrepancies.
- Support an accurate and timely monthly owner reporting process.
Tax Compliance & Year-End Reporting
- Prepare and file applicable occupancy, lodging, and sales tax returns related to reservation revenue.
- Reconcile taxable revenue and taxes collected to ensure accurate reporting and remittance.
- Coordinate W-9 collection and maintain accurate tax information for owners and vendors.
- Prepare and process year-end 1099 reporting for applicable owners and vendors.
- Assist with year-end accounting procedures and other tax-related reporting requirements.
Process Improvement & Collaboration
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, accuracy, and efficiency.
- Help develop and maintain accounting procedures and documentation.
- Work collaboratively with finance leadership and other departments to resolve issues.
- Assist with implementing new systems, technology, and automation to streamline accounting processes.
- Take on additional accounting responsibilities as the company grows.

- Based in the New Orleans area and available for occasional in-person meetings.
Preferred

- Experience with QuickBooks Online.
- Experience in hospitality, short-term rentals, hotels, or property management accounting.
- Familiarity with lodging taxes, sales taxes, and 1099 reporting.

Who Will Succeed in This Role?
The ideal candidate is someone who enjoys accounting, takes pride in getting the details right, and doesn't need to be reminded to follow through.
