Position Overview

Aptly Technology is seeking a Senior Accountant with a strong accounting foundation for a hands-on role covering financial close, general ledger accounting, invoicing, payroll, and reporting. The position also supports budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis, offering an opportunity to combine accounting ownership with broader financial analysis and process improvement.

This role will also work closely with international accounting teams and external service providers to ensure foreign entities follow the parent company’s accounting policies and deliver timely, complete, and accurate financial reports.

The ideal candidate has 3–7 years of relevant experience, demonstrated ownership of core accounting activities, and an interest in understanding business performance and improving finance processes through technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close, including journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and preparation of financial statements and management reports.
  • Maintain the general ledger, resolve discrepancies, and ensure transactions are accurately recorded and supported.
  • Perform customer invoicing, validate billing against contracts, approved timesheets, and project milestones, and coordinate with account managers to resolve billing issues and follow up on outstanding receivables.
  • Coordinate foreign entities’ accounting and monthly reporting, including intercompany reconciliations, consolidation, and foreign currency accounting; ensure alignment with parent company policies and complete, accurate reporting with clear explanations of unusual balances and fluctuations.
  • Prepare annual budgets and update quarterly forecasts with management input; analyze variances and provide ad hoc reports to support business decisions.
  • Coordinate B&O tax filings, external audits, and tax preparation with internal teams and external advisors.
  • Support ERP and finance software implementations, strengthen internal controls, and collaborate with engineering teams to improve workflows and automate accounting processes using AI and other technologies.

Required Qualifications

  • 3–7 years of relevant experience in corporate accounting, general ledger accounting, public accounting, or a finance role with substantial accounting responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage core accounting activities, including financial close, journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
  • Working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, intercompany accounting, consolidation, and foreign currency accounting.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to investigate discrepancies, clearly explain financial results, and connect financial information to business operations.
  • Willingness to learn and adopt new technologies, including AI tools, and collaborate with internal engineering teams to improve workflows.
  • Ability to work a hybrid schedule with regular onsite attendance in Redmond, Washington.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Experience implementing or upgrading an ERP system or other finance software.
  • Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance, NetSuite, QuickBooks Online, or similar accounting systems.
  • Experience with customer invoicing and payroll processing.
  • Experience coordinating foreign entity accounting and consolidated financial reporting.
  • Exposure to annual budgeting, quarterly forecasting, and variance analysis.
  • Familiarity with Washington B&O tax filings.
  • Experience in a technology or professional services business.
