The User Experience Generalist Intern will collaborate with UX design and research teams and cross-functional software product teams to research user needs, develop design solutions, support design handoffs, and contribute to real-world projects.
Responsibilities
Work with the GSS UX Design and Research team to help conceptualize and develop solutions to user problems Support the creation of design deliverables and documentation to help gather feedback on design solutions from internal stakeholders and users Collaborate with development teams to understand concept feasibility and support design hand-offs Collaborate with the design ops team to help define, document, and evolve, reasonable UI components that support designed-to-code workflow using tools like Figma, Claude, and GitHub Assist in preparing and executing research activities such as interviews, usability testing, heuristic evaluations, and card sorting Join weekly design and research review meetings to share work and receive feedback Engage with designers, researchers, and customer success teams to stay informed on user needs Attend bimonthly User Experience team demos to learn and contribute Gain hands-on experience with new tools, modern technologies, AI tooling & coding agents, and systems thinking to contribute to real-world projects, rapidly prototype, and share insights with teammates Demonstrate initiative and a willingness to take thoughtful risks
Qualifications: Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field Strong written and verbal communication skills to help build empathy for users and clearly share research findings Familiarity with iterative design processes and basic design deliverables such as user flows, wireframes, and prototypes Some experience or coursework in conducting user research and usability testing Ability to analyze research data and identify actionable insights Basic understanding of information architecture and web accessibility principles Comfort with design and collaboration tools such as Figma, Mural, Teams, or Slack A proactive, self-starting attitude with the ability to manage your workload and collaborate effectively Eager to grow Some experience or coursework in Agile environments Passionate about user-centered design and research Motivated communicators Understand that building great software is a team effort Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States The company does not intend to provide sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B, TN, etc.) for this employment position Portfolio or coursework examples preferred Availability to work during East Coast business hours
