Senior 4G/5G RAN Software Engineer

Airspan Networks is seeking a Senior 4G/5G RAN Software Engineer to develop and optimize LTE and 5G NR Layer 2 software for commercial wireless infrastructure products. This role is ideal for an engineer with approximately 3-7 years of hands-on experience in wireless protocol stack development who enjoys solving complex technical challenges and contributing to next-generation RAN solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain LTE/5G NR Layer 2 software (MAC, RLC, PDCP).
• Translate 3GPP specifications into software requirements and implementations.
• Optimize protocol stack performance, including throughput, latency, and resource utilization.
• Debug and resolve software issues across Layer 1, Layer 2, and Layer 3 interfaces.
• Collaborate with PHY, RF, system integration, and test teams.
• Support interoperability, carrier acceptance, and field testing activities.
• Participate in code reviews, technical documentation, and mentoring activities.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Science, or related field.
• Typically 3-7 years of software development experience in wireless communications.
• Strong C/C++ programming skills.
• Experience with LTE and/or 5G NR Layer 2 protocols (MAC, RLC, PDCP).
• Experience developing software on Linux, embedded Linux, RTOS, x86, ARM, or SoC platforms.
• Familiarity with 3GPP specifications and protocol debugging tools such as Wireshark.

Preferred Qualifications

• LTE eNB or 5G NR gNB development experience.
• Experience with Open RAN, virtualized RAN, or cloud-native telecom solutions.
• Knowledge of Git, Jira, CI/CD pipelines, and scripting languages such as Python or Shell.
• Experience with interoperability testing (IOT) and carrier acceptance testing.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Range: $140,000 - $175,000 annually, plus bonus eligibility and sign-on bonus opportunity.
