Role and Responsibilities:
Full-Time position supporting the TESS Task Order filling the Systems Engineer position supporting
the Close in Weapons System (CIWS) Test Conductor position with moderate travel. Duties include:
supporting installation, checkout, operations, maintenance and removal of all CIWS variants at
field test execution site; providing value/concurrent technical support for CIWS variant equipped
ships and land based installations during development and maintenance of test documentation. The
position is located at San Diego, CA.
Position Duties:
- Either Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science or other technical degree and 6 years’
experience or no degree with a minimum of 12 years technical experience supporting Navy systems
experience.
- Provides on-site technical expertise including providing technical/consultative services and
training during Integration Tests, onboard Ship, test sites, and/or contractor sites.
- Provide problem identification and resolution, instruction in performance of
installation/checkout procedures or providing technical information/advice relative to the specific
equipment at that site.
- Prepares, reviews and/or modifies/updates technical documentation related to test and evaluation
and checkout of equipment with concerns for test execution support.
- Reviews ship configuration documents and drawings such as ORDALT drawings to characterize
equipment under test.
- Prepares requirements driven maintenance and groom plan for assigned systems including test
requirements, interface continuity checks, maintenance readiness cards, test plans, etc.
- Uses knowledge of equipment and associated systems to review documentation for technical
accuracy and adequacy.
- Provides evaluation of and solution to test-related fleet problems including reviewing problems
reported in Test Problem Reports, messages, CASREPs and developing solutions and evaluating the
corrective action to the reported problems.
- Generates individual or group reports associated with these problems, and provides oral or
written information for Program Sponsor, CIWS In-Service Engineering Agency (ISEA), Regional
Maintenance Center (RMC), Program Review, or other appropriate meeting/activity.
- Provides technical information and maintains knowledge on design, configuration, and problems of
cognizant systems.
- Provides technical information in support of the following functions: configuration management,
data design (drawings, spec), logistics support (APLs, ICP, TRS), technical manuals (OD, IRM,
TMCR). Provides technical consultative services to all levels of the technical community.
- Develops a plan for project accomplishment and breaks projects into smaller tasks which may be
personally performed or assigned to other technicians to result in timely accomplishment of the
overall assignment.
- Must have a valid driver’s license with own transportation and able to travel extensively.
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete background check and get a government clearance.
- Must be able to follow company policies and procedures.
- Must be able to clearly write, speak and understand English and able to write clear, detailed
technical monthly reports.
Required Skills:
- Navy A/C School for FC with CIWS NEC
Mandatory Physical Requirements:
- Must be capable of working aboard US Navy ships pier side and at-sea.
