What You'll do

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable backend services and APIs.
  • Build production-ready systems with a focus on performance, reliability, scalability, and maintainability.
  • Own backend features and projects end-to-end, from technical design and implementation through deployment, monitoring, troubleshooting, and ongoing improvements.
  • Work with distributed systems and event-driven architectures, including messaging and asynchronous data flows.
  • Design and implement APIs and services that integrate with other internal and external systems.
  • Work with large and complex data flows and understand how data moves through backend systems.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve services running in production.
  • Participate in system design and architecture discussions and help make sound technical decisions.
  • Collaborate with frontend engineers, Product, QA, and other engineering teams to deliver complete solutions.
  • Investigate complex production issues and identify root causes rather than only addressing symptoms.
  • Improve existing systems and proactively identify opportunities to increase reliability, performance, and engineering efficiency.
  • Provide technical guidance to other engineers and contribute to engineering best practices.

What you bring

  • 6-7 years of professional experience in backend software engineering and building production systems.
  • Strong experience with Node.js or a similar backend technology.
  • Deep understanding of backend development principles, APIs, services, databases, and distributed systems.
  • Hands-on experience building and operating production applications , including debugging and troubleshooting real-world issues.
  • Experience with event-driven systems and messaging technologies , particularly Kafka.
  • Experience designing and working with GraphQL APIs.
  • Experience with cloud infrastructure and services; GCP experience is preferred .
  • Strong understanding of scalability, performance, reliability, observability, and system design.
  • Demonstrated ability to take ownership of complex projects and drive them from design through production.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to investigate complex technical issues independently.
  • Ability to work effectively with other engineers and cross-functional teams.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to make and explain technical decisions

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with NestJS .
  • Strong experience with GCP and cloud-native services.
  • Experience with MongoDB or other NoSQL databases.
  • Experience with Kubernetes and containerized applications.
  • Experience with CI/CD and production deployment pipelines.
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tools.
  • Experience with high-scale or distributed systems.
  • Experience with Angular or other frontend technologies is a plus.
  • Experience working across the full stack is a plus.

Below is the US base salary for this position. Additional compensation such as Bonus, Commission, Equity and other benefits may also apply.

$140,000 — $220,000 USD
