About this role
About the team
Zillow's Corporate Affairs team is responsible for growing awareness for Zillow Group's portfolio of innovative products and services, enhancing its brand reputation and affinity and amplifying advocacy efforts with various audiences including consumers, real estate professionals, policymakers, regulators and investors.
Through earned and owned media channels, on-the-ground engagement and data and research, the Corporate Affairs team strengthens Zillow's position as a thought leader in housing, technology, and real estate.
About the role
This Corporate Communications Manager specializes in litigation, policy and regulatory communications and develops and executes strategic initiatives that strengthen Zillow's reputation and relationships with key external stakeholders. In this role, you will serve as the communications lead for litigation, regulatory, and other legal risk matters, and for communications that support Zillow's public policy priorities.
You'll partner closely with Legal, Government Relations, Executive Leadership, Communications and business leaders to shape thoughtful, consistent messaging during high-profile and high-stakes situations.
This is a highly strategic individual contributor role that requires sound judgment, strong executive presence, and the ability to operate with autonomy in complex, fast-moving environments. You'll help ensure Zillow's legal strategy, policy positions, and public communications remain aligned while leading cross-functional workstreams that support our broader reputation and stakeholder engagement goals.
This role is part of the Corporate Communications team, reporting to Zillow's Director of Corporate Affairs. You won't have direct reports, but you will lead.
What You’ll Do
Own litigation and regulatory communications end-to-end. You'll develop proactive and reactive communications strategies for litigation, regulatory and legal risk matters — anticipating how matters may evolve in the press, preparing leadership for likely lines of questioning, and ensuring Zillow speaks with consistency and confidence.
Your work product is polished and precise, and you exercise sound judgment, carry strategy through to execution, and independently develop work that is ready for senior executive review.
Lead communications that support Zillow's public policy priorities. You'll partner with Government Relations and Public Affairs to develop communications plans that align with Zillow's business objectives and its federal, state and local policy goals.
You'll shape messaging for policymakers, regulators and other government stakeholders, and amplify Zillow's pro-consumer advocacy through media, events, thought leadership and owned content.
Serve as a trusted strategic partner to Legal and the C-suite. You'll operate in rooms with Legal leadership, outside counsel and C-suite executives, and influence decision-making and escalate needs to leadership with speed and clarity.
You'll translate complex legal and policy situations into clear communications positions, proactively flag communications risks, and regularly present solutions alongside the problems you identify.
Manage media relationships in a specialized, high-stakes context. You'll build and maintain relationships with journalists who cover legal, regulatory, policy and real estate industry beats — proactively shaping narratives where possible and responding with speed and precision when inquiries arrive. You understand how to work within legal constraints while still being an effective, credible media partner.
Craft clear, compelling content. You'll write and edit statements, Q&As, press releases, op-eds, speeches, briefing materials and social content, making sure everything we say is accurate, timely, and aligned with Zillow's brand, business objectives and policy goals.
Drive cross-functional projects with rigor and clarity. You'll lead workstreams across Legal, Communications, Government Relations and Investor Relations — defining objectives, building workback plans, and establishing RACI frameworks that keep complex, fast-moving matters organized. You anticipate the questions your stakeholders haven't thought to ask yet and show up with answers.
Support crisis communications and protect Zillow's reputation. You'll help coordinate messaging across Legal, product, customer care, investor relations and other key teams during high-stakes situations, and evaluate legal and policy developments for potential reputation risks.
Monitor, adapt, and apply. You'll track legal, regulatory, policy and media developments that could affect Zillow, bring relevant intelligence back to the team, and quickly integrate lessons into how you work.
Represent Comms in cross-functional forums. You'll carry the Communications team's perspective into legal strategy discussions, stakeholder planning meetings and executive briefings — advocating for communications interests and helping other functions understand what's at stake from a public narrative standpoint.
