About the Team
The Developer Platform Product Management team at Workday drives the product vision and strategy for one of our greatest differentiators: the technology platform that was purpose-built for the cloud.
Product managers here are involved in every aspect of the product lifecycle — from crafting features that delight customers, to evangelizing improvements across internal and external audiences, to obsessing over the details that make an outstanding end product. We are growing fast, and we are looking for people who combine strategic vision with a record of getting high-demand products to market.
About the Role
The Developer Platform is an embedded platform-as-a-service (PaaS) built on highly scalable cloud backend infrastructure and AI capabilities, enabling enterprise applications, AI agents, and core integrations to run securely and reliably.
As a Senior Product Manager on the Developer Core Services team, you will serve as a strategic product lead responsible for building and scaling the core backend infrastructure and platform foundation that empowers developers.
You will lead cross-functional execution across backend engineering teams, drive architectural evolutions, and deliver high-throughput distributed services, application lifecycle management, telemetry pipelines, and infrastructure APIs that underpin the entire developer experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Infrastructure Roadmap & Core Services Ownership: Define, own, and maintain a multi-quarter product roadmap for core backend services—treating internal platform architecture as a product by gathering technical requirements from engineering and system architects to drive platform scalability and resilience.
- Cross-Functional Orchestration: Partner deeply with development teams, partners, system integrators, and internal engineering groups to align technical dependencies and unlock platform velocity.
- Multi-Team Delivery Ownership: Operate as a Senior PM lead guiding multiple scrum teams. Drive end-to-end product delivery from design, and spikes through testing, rollout, and post-launch optimization.
- Scalable Backend Infrastructure: Architect resilient, high-availability distributed systems and core APIs that power high-volume transactions and seamlessly support downstream developer experience tooling and agentic AI workflows.
- Architectural & Operational Governance: Lead technical and business trade-off discussions around legacy decommissioning, tenant lifecycle management, security/government compliance, and system resiliency metrics.
- Community & Evangelism: Serve as the primary product advocate across developer events, customer advisory boards, and internal forums, effectively translating complex technical capability into clear developer value.
- Manage Enterprise Governance & Scale: Enable developers to move fast safely by building guardrails into the platform tools, ensuring security compliance, zero-trust patterns, and automated test environments are built-in
- Define & Monitor Core Metrics: Establish and operationalize measurable KPIs tracking developer satisfaction, service reliability, and self-service platform adoption.
About You
Basic Qualifications:
- 8+ years of product management, software engineering, or technical platform leadership experience, with proven ownership of developer-facing software products or cloud platform infrastructure.
- 4+ years of experience working cross-functionally across complex technical dependencies with multiple engineering and architecture teams.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience building, scaling, or managing backend cloud infrastructure, core platform services, distributed systems, or enterprise APIs.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a demonstrated ability to articulate complex architectural concepts clearly to both executive stakeholders and software engineers
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Experience with building platform as a service, cloud-native architectures, microservices, containerized deployment pipelines, and observability tooling
- Strong analytical background with experience defining product telemetry, running developer usability spikes, and leveraging operational metrics to guide decisions.
- Demonstrated experience leveraging AI-powered tools and platforms to inform product strategy, automate developer workflows, or enhance builder satisfaction.
- High level of initiative and a track record of taking products from initial concept to commercial availability and post-GA iteration.

Our Approach to Flexible Work
With Flex
Work, we’re combining the best of both worlds: in-person time and remote. Our approach enables our teams to deepen connections, maintain a strong community, and do their best work.
We know that flexibility can take shape in many ways, so rather than a number of required days in-office each week, we simply spend at least half (50%) of our time each quarter in the office or in the field with our customers, prospects, and partners (depending on role).
This means you'll have the freedom to create a flexible schedule that caters to your business, team, and personal needs, while being intentional to make the most of time spent together. Those in our remote "home office" roles also have the opportunity to come together in our offices for important moments that matter.
Pursuant to applicable Fair Chance law, Workday will consider for employment qualified applicants with arrest and conviction records.

Workday is committed to providing reasonable accommodations for qualified individuals during our application process, in order to perform one or more essential functions of their job, as well as regarding the use of AI too
