Day-to-Day Responsibilities

As a Customer Development Intern at Unilever, you will help drive the growth of our brands by supporting the development and execution of commercial plans with key customers and partners. Working closely with Customer Development, Marketing, Shopper Marketing and Category teams, you will gain hands-on experience in how commercial strategies are transformed into successful in-market execution.

Depending on the team and business priorities, your responsibilities may include:

  • Supporting the development and execution of customer and category growth plans across a range of retail and commercial channels.
  • Assisting with the planning and implementation of promotional and activation calendars to drive business performance and shopper engagement.
  • Analyzing sales, promotional, customer and category performance data to identify opportunities and support decision-making.
  • Supporting innovation launches and helping coordinate activities required for successful customer implementation.
  • Collaborating with Marketing, Shopper Marketing, Category Management, Supply Chain and Finance teams to ensure effective execution of business priorities.
  • Monitoring promotional activities and in-store execution, helping evaluate performance and identify recommendations for future improvements.
  • Preparing commercial analyses, presentations and performance updates for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Supporting customer meetings, business reviews and operational account management activities.
  • Coordinating multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously while ensuring deadlines and deliverables are met.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen commercial effectiveness and customer collaboration.

What You'll Learn

During this internship, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Develop a strong understanding of how Unilever collaborates with retailers and customers to drive category and business growth.
  • Gain hands-on experience with promotional planning, activations, innovation launches and commercial execution.
  • Learn how Marketing, Customer Development, Shopper Marketing and Category teams work together to bring brands to life in-store and online.
  • Build analytical skills by working with sales, promotional and customer performance data.
  • Strengthen stakeholder management and communication skills through collaboration with both internal teams and external partners.
  • Develop project management capabilities by coordinating multiple activities and priorities in a dynamic commercial environment.
  • Gain exposure to customer negotiations, commercial planning processes and retailer dynamics within a leading FMCG organization.
  • Take ownership of meaningful projects that directly contribute to business performance and customer success.

What we're looking for

  • Available for 5-6 months starting February-March 2027 (minimum 32-40 hours per week)
  • Currently enrolled in a (HBO) Dutch university, Bachelor's program (3rd or 4th year) or a Master's program
  • Eager to learn, challenge yourself, and take ownership of impactful projects
  • Available to work on site 2-3 days a week at our Rotterdam Office
  • Fluency in Dutch and English
