About the Design Team

We're a tight-knit team of product designers, researchers, and content designers working closely with engineers and product managers to research, explore, and iterate on well-crafted user experiences that are innovative, engaging, and delightful. We collaborate regularly through design critiques, work sessions, and presentations to inspire and influence the direction of the product and company as a whole.

About the Partnerships Team

Partnerships is one of the fastest-growing areas of Thumbtack’s business and unlocking new growth opportunities through collaboration. Each new business vertical and partnership represents a unique opportunity to reach new customers and expand the value of Thumbtack’s platform.

Our team operates like a startup within Thumbtack. We identify high-potential verticals, form strategic relationships, and move from concept to product by validating new ideas, defining product-market fit, and scaling what works. Some partnerships are mature and expanding while others are just beginning.

Across all of them, we balance experimentation with execution to build products that create mutual value for partners, pros, and homeowners alike.

This role will also help ensure Thumbtack's evolving brand system shows up consistently in both partner-facing and in-product experiences — connecting our brand into the broader product rather than treating it as a separate track.

About the role

We're looking for a Product Designer with excellent prototyping, motion, and brand/visual design skills to join our Partnerships team and to support how Thumbtack's brand system shows up across the product.

This role sits at the intersection of go-to-market design and in-product brand experience: you'll pair product design sensibility with storytelling, prototyping, and polish to accelerate partnerships and go-to-market efforts, while also helping translate brand system updates — iconography, motion language, moments of delight — into consistent, high-craft product experiences beyond Partnerships alone.

You'll work closely with Business Development, Sales, Go-to-Market Operations, Product, and Brand teams.

This is a product design role with a twist: you'll spend more of your time than most roles in visualizing new experiences, prototyping, animation, and production design — creating interactive demos and motion-rich experiences for partners, and elevating motion and brand craft in live product surfaces.

What you’ll do

  • Lead a significant portion of our product experience and be accountable for business outcomes
  • Conduct user research and lightweight tests to scope and prioritize product initiatives
  • Transform a vague, ambitious idea into a compelling business and product case, secure resources, and lead execution with clear success criteria.
  • Champion deep learnings and insights as a core metric, valuing them alongside traditional metrics to fuel smarter, more innovative product decisions.
  • Partner with marketing, engineers, designers, data and applied scientists to ideate, prioritize and deliver great solutions for our customers and professionals
  • Coordinate within your team and among teams at Thumbtack to ensure understanding of and alignment around projects
  • Drive a high-impact initiative from seed to scale, ensuring sustained focus by thoughtfully sunsetting or culling initiatives that do not meet success criteria.

In order to be successful, you must bring

  • 3–5 years of product design experience.
  • A blend of agency and in-house product design experience, supported by a strong portfolio.
  • Advanced Figma prototyping skills, from low-fidelity flows to high-fidelity experiences with motion and interaction.
  • Experience creating polished micro-interactions, transitions, and animations, with strong attention to craft, timing, and detail.
  • Experience translating brand systems into product experiences through motion, iconography, and UI polish.
  • Understanding of technical feasibility and ability to collaborate effectively with engineering partners.
  • Strong communication and visual storytelling skills to align cross-functional stakeholders.

Expected salary ranges

  • For candidates living in Ontario and British Columbia, the expected total cash compensation (base salary + variable pay, if applicable) range for this role is currently $131,800.00 - $170,500.00.

Actual offered salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as calibrated job level, qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role.
