About the Brand Marketing Team
We’re a tight-knit, collaborative group on a mission to make Thumbtack famous. The Thumbtack brand marketing team exists to reimagine brand building, using modern marketing tools to drive preference and brand recognition. We are tasked with creating a category-defining, differentiated brand and bringing it to life consistently across multiple media touchpoints to drive brand recognition and commercial success.
About the role
We are looking for a Brand Operations Specialist to build and lead the operational foundation of the Brand organization at Thumbtack. This is the launch of a new discipline—and this person will define it from the ground up.
This role is responsible for developing the systems, workflows, tooling, automations, and governance models that allow the Brand team to scale with clarity, consistency, and high creative standards.
A core requirement of this role is advanced, hands-on use and application of AI—not as a supplement to the work, but as a primary method for building smart systems, automating repetitive tasks, and enabling the organization to operate at a higher level. This person will partner closely with technical teams to scope, author, and maintain the processes and tooling that form the Brand team's operational model.
The ideal candidate is equal parts operator, systems thinker, and AI practitioner. They are energized by building order from complexity, and they understand that strong processes are a strategic enabler of better creative outcomes—not administrative overhead.
What you’ll do
- Build the Brand Operations discipline from the ground up, establishing the systems, standards, and practices that support scalable, high-performing brand work.
- Design and implement operational workflows that improve visibility, prioritization, intake, approvals, handoffs, timelines, and overall process hygiene across the Brand team.
- Partner with technical teams to scope, author, and maintain the processes, automations, and tooling that form the Brand operational model.
- Apply advanced AI capabilities to automate manual tasks, build intelligent workflows, and create scalable systems—this is a core job function, not an optional enhancement.
- Evaluate, implement, and continuously optimize tools that support project management, asset workflows, collaboration, review cycles, and team planning.
- Establish frameworks for how AI should be applied across Brand operations, ensuring adoption is practical, measurable, and aligned with team goals.
- Author, document, and manage team processes so they are clear, repeatable, and easy for cross-functional partners to adopt and follow.
- Partner closely with producers, brand managers, art directors, and technical teams to ensure operating models support both creative excellence and executional clarity.
- Track operational performance and identify opportunities to improve throughput, reduce friction, and increase organizational effectiveness.
- Serve as the central owner of Brand team process clarity, ensuring roles, responsibilities, timelines, and decision-making pathways are well understood across the organization.
In order to be successful, you must bring
- Experience in brand operations, creative operations, program management, or workflow design, ideally within an in-house brand, marketing, or creative organization.
- Advanced, hands-on experience applying AI tools and automation to real operational workflows—this is a required skill, not a nice-to-have.
- Proven ability to partner with technical teams to scope, design, and implement process and tooling solutions at scale.
- Strong operational instincts, with the ability to translate ambiguity into clear processes, documentation, and working models.
- Experience assessing and managing tools that support collaboration, project tracking, production, review, or creative workflow management.
- Excellent judgment about when process adds value and when it creates unnecessary friction.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build clarity, alignment, and accountability across a diverse set of stakeholders.
- A systems mindset and a high bar for organization, documentation, and continuous improvement.
- Availability to operate on or closely aligned with PST hours for real-time cross-functional collaboration.
- Experience standing up a new operational function or discipline within a growing organization.
- Familiarity with AI-enabled workflow tools, knowledge management systems, process automation platforms, or creative operations tooling.
- Experience supporting brand, design, or marketing teams with complex stakeholder environments and multiple concurrent workstreams.
- Ability to define success metrics and measure the impact of operational improvements over time.
- Experience developing governance models, team rituals, intake systems, or process documentation at scale.
Actual offered salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as calibrated job level, qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role.
