Our challenge
We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Product Owner with a strong Data Engineering, Data Platform, and Analytics background to drive the vision, roadmap, and delivery of enterprise-scale data products. The ideal candidate will bridge business stakeholders and technical teams, ensuring that data solutions align with organizational goals while delivering scalable, secure, and high-performing data platforms.
This role requires deep understanding of data architecture, data warehousing, cloud technologies, analytics, and agile product management practices. The candidate will be responsible for defining product requirements, prioritizing backlogs, and collaborating closely with engineering, analytics, and business teams to deliver impactful data-driven solutions.
Additional Information
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Charlotte, NC is $110 - $115k/year & benefits (see below).
The Role
Responsibilities:
- Define and communicate the product vision, roadmap, and strategy for data and analytics platforms.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand requirements, priorities, and success metrics.
- Translate business needs into detailed user stories, acceptance criteria, and technical requirements.
- Own and manage the product backlog, ensuring priorities align with business objectives.
- Drive sprint planning, backlog grooming, and release management activities.
- Partner with Data Engineers, Architects, Analysts, and DevOps teams to deliver scalable data solutions.
- Guide the development of data lakes, data warehouses, ETL/ELT pipelines, and analytics platforms.
- Ensure data products meet performance, scalability, security, and compliance standards.
- Support data governance, metadata management, and master data initiatives.
- Monitor platform health, KPIs, and operational metrics to continuously improve product performance
- Work within Agile/Scrum frameworks to deliver incremental value.
- Define product goals and measure outcomes using KPIs and data-driven insights.
- Support UAT activities and ensure delivered solutions meet business expectations
Requirements:
- IT experience with strong emphasize as a Product Owner or Product Manager.
- Strong experience working with enterprise data platforms, analytics, and business intelligence solutions.
- Hands-on understanding of data warehousing, data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and data lifecycle management.
- Experience managing Agile product backlogs and working with Scrum teams.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Proven ability to translate complex technical requirements into business value.
Preferred, but not required:
- Experience and desire to work in an Agile process (pair programming, daily stand-ups, etc.).
- Demonstrable knowledge of problem domain in which they have been working.
- Strong communication skills.
- Passion to learn new technology.
- Relevant industry (banking middle/back office/Finance) experience.
