What You’ll Do
- Game Math Design: Design and balance slot game mathematics, including reel structures, paytables, bonus features, and reward systems, to meet target RTP, volatility, hit frequency, feature frequency, maximum win, and reward budgets
- Game Mechanics Development: Translate game themes and creative concepts into engaging, mathematically feasible slot mechanics and features in collaboration with Game Designers and Artists
- Player-Centric Balancing: Balance game pacing, win distributions, bonus features, and reward structures to deliver enjoyable gameplay experiences aligned with the intended game design objectives
- Tool Development: Develop and maintain mathematical models, simulators, calculators, and validation tools using Excel and Java, with Git for version control and Gradle for build automation
- Simulation & Validation: Conduct large-scale simulations to validate theoretical calculations, test edge cases, analyze win distributions, and identify unexpected outcomes
- Implementation & Validation: Collaborate with Engineering and QA to ensure implemented game logic aligns with approved mathematical models, supporting debugging, test planning, and validation through release
- Mathematical Integrity: Maintain mathematical accuracy, fairness, and consistency between theoretical models and implemented game behavior
- Data-Driven Iteration: Use playtesting feedback, player behavior insights, live-game performance data, and competitor analysis to refine game mechanics and improve the player experience
- Documentation: Prepare and maintain accurate PAR sheets, paytables, probability calculations, simulation results, test plans, and mathematical specifications
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Communicate mathematical concepts, assumptions, risks, and trade-offs clearly to Game Design, Engineering, Art, QA, Product, and other stakeholders
- Ownership & Delivery: Take ownership of mathematical deliverables, timelines, model revisions, reviews, and feedback through final validation and release
What We’re Looking For
- Experience: 4+ years of experience in game mathematics, preferably designing and balancing casino slot games
- Programming & Tooling: Proficiency in Excel and Java or another relevant programming language, with working knowledge of Git and Gradle for developing mathematical models, simulators, calculators, and validation tools
- Programming Fundamentals: Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming (OOP), and standard software design patterns
- Game Mathematics & Balancing: Strong understanding of RTP, volatility, hit frequency, feature frequency, and win distributions, with the ability to design and balance mathematically sound game mechanics aligned with target metrics and gameplay objectives
- Game Development & Validation: Experience taking mathematical game concepts through development, simulation, validation, and production release, including comprehensive test coverage and iterative refinement
- Data-Driven Iteration: Experience using playtesting results, player behavior insights, live-game performance data, and competitor analysis to evaluate and improve game mechanics
