About this role

The Experience

Emerging Technology finds high leverage opportunities within DET and supports 0 to 1 initiatives across the enterprise. The DET platform is the connective tissue underneath all of it, and right now it is missing the one thing that makes engineering effort compound: product vision and support.

We are hiring a Senior Director, Platform Product Management to build and lead a small, nimble product team for our platform. The vision is simple: a lean group that drives requirements, sets priorities, and evangelizes new platform capabilities across the org. Our Engineering, Development & Delivery (EDD) partners own all the engineering that brings those capabilities to life.

Right now those capabilities exist as powerful but scattered building blocks. Your job is to shape them into a comprehensive platform. You will run continuous discovery with the teams who use the platform, translate their needs into a single sequenced roadmap, and work shoulder to shoulder with EDD engineers to ship.

This is a builder role. You need to be technical enough to earn trust with senior engineers (challenge scope, reason about architecture, cut through the noise) and strategic enough to rally the org around a clear plan without owning the engineers who execute it. Adoption is core to the job: advertising a service and waiting for uptake is not a strategy.

You will own the “what’s in it for me” narrative and get partner teams to commit to real adoption.

What You'll Actually Be Doing

  • Building the platform product function: Defining how the platform decides what to build, for whom, and in what order. Standing up the intake funnel and required functions to generate clarity and awareness of what is being delivered and when
  • Contributing to one platform roadmap: Consolidating initiatives spread across a dozen owners into a single, ruthlessly sequenced roadmap. You’ll contribute to making hard prioritization calls and defending them
  • Going deep with engineering: Sitting with senior engineers across hosting/compute, CI/CD and developer tooling, the AI control plane, data and telemetry, and real-time ML. Understanding the architecture well enough to challenge scope, unblock tradeoffs, and earn technical trust
  • Killing duplication: Maintaining the single view of who is building what. Merging overlapping efforts early
  • Driving adoption, not just availability: Owning the “what’s in it for me” narrative and pushing partner teams to commit to real adoption milestones
  • Running discovery: Interviewing platform use case owners continuously to keep the roadmap grounded in real demand, not assumptions
  • Communicating with clarity: Translating deep technical work into crisp narratives for executives and giving engineering a clear, honest read on priorities and progress
  • Mentoring PMs: Growing the platform product team as it scales; setting the bar for technical fluency and product craft

You're Our Person If...

  • You have 10+ years in product management, 4+ leading platform, infrastructure, or developer products. You have owned technical products where engineers are your primary customers
  • Experience in developer productivity or tooling: you’ve previously worked in environments where your primary mission was developer enablement
  • Hands-on technical depth across several of: cloud infrastructure (AWS preferred), hosting and compute (containers and serverless), CI/CD and developer workflow tooling, data and telemetry pipelines / event buses, observability, real-time ML, and the emerging AI stack (MCP servers, MCP registries, agent tooling, knowledge graphs)
  • Intake and roadmap muscle: Proven track record building prioritization frameworks and driving one roadmap across many stakeholders and competing agendas
  • Adoption and go-to-market chops for internal or developer platforms: you have gotten teams to actually commit and migrate, not just express interest
  • Executive communication: You can hold a room with VPs and SVPs and make complex technical tradeoffs legible
  • Comfort with ambiguity and influence without authority: Engineering owners stay in their reporting lines; you drive through trust, clarity, and results

Even Better If. ..

  • Former engineering experience: You have written and shipped production code and can read an architecture diagram, a PR, or a design doc without a translator
  • Bachelor’s in a technical field (CS or similar) or equivalent hands-on experience
