The Experience
Cloud Atlas is a globally distributed, highly available, multi-master replicated datastore powering user logins and authentication between Salesforce services. We're looking for an engineering manager to lead a friendly, high-impact team with expertise across Java, NoSQL, and DevOps practices, building, maintaining, and scaling critical authentication infrastructure.
What You'll Actually Be Doing
- Lead, empower, and develop a team of software engineers delivering application programming interfaces (APIs), logging and monitoring, performance tuning, and highly available datastore services.
- Develop short- and long-term product and operational strategies for Cloud Atlas in partnership with product management and architecture teams.
- Manage project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables using Agile methodologies, such as Scrum and Kanban.
- Drive software quality, performance, security, and resilience through code reviews, continuous integration, and incident response.
- Develop each engineer's ability to work effectively in an AI-augmented environment, moving beyond tracking output to actively coaching growth into higher-level system design and architecture work.
- Own how AI tools are integrated into the team's daily development cycle, including configuration, feedback loops, and the judgment calls about when human review is required to validate output.
- Serve as the guardian of architectural integrity, security best practices, and technical standards as AI increases code volume, coaching engineers to critically audit AI-generated code for logic flaws, vulnerabilities, and performance issues.
You're Our Person If...
- You have direct people management experience leading software engineering teams.
- You have strong software development experience with a solid grasp of Java, web services (representational state transfer/remote procedure call, or REST/RPC), and system architecture.
- You're familiar with Linux/Unix command line, bash, microservices architecture, and distributed systems.
- You have excellent oral and written communication skills, with a track record of cross-team collaboration.
- You have active, hands-on proficiency with AI development tools; full utilization is the baseline expectation, along with deep technical expertise sufficient to evaluate architectural integrity and make informed decisions about AI-generated output.
- You have experience assessing candidates on their ability to formulate effective prompts, evaluate AI outputs, and orchestrate multi-agent workflows in addition to foundational technical skills.
Even Better If...
- You have experience with NoSQL datastores.
- You know your way around containerization and orchestration platforms, such as Docker and Kubernetes.
- You've deployed applications to public cloud platforms, such as Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Azure, or OpenStack.
- You have a solid understanding of web security, authentication and authorization frameworks, and public key infrastructure (PKI).
