Job Summary

J oin the Columbus Forge team as a Waste Operations Technician, where you’ll play a key role in safely managing hazardous and non-hazardous waste while ensuring compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements. This role offers the opportunity to work hands-on in a manufacturing environment while supporting a culture of safety, compliance, and operational excellence.

This is a Weekend Day Shift

Friday – Sunday, 7:00 am – 7:00 pm

What You Will Do:

• Perform hazardous and non-hazardous waste operations, including the safe collection, handling, removal, and disposal of chemicals, solvents, acids, bases, and other regulated materials.
• Transport drums, totes, and waste containers to and from points of generation using powered industrial vehicles, and operate a box truck in accordance with applicable DOT regulations.
• Prepare, package, label, and stage hazardous and non-hazardous waste for shipment in compliance with applicable requirements.
• Monitor and control chemicals, hazardous waste, storage units, and waste generation areas to ensure regulatory compliance, proper housekeeping, and safe operations.
• Perform required inventory and inspection checks, including inspections of safety equipment such as emergency showers and eyewash stations; document and report findings.
• Maintain accurate waste records and container information using waste tracking software and execute management systems and mistake-proofing processes to support 100% compliance and a Zero Escapes operating environment.
• Collaborate with the team to manage multiple priorities and provide scheduling and operational coverage during off-shifts as needed.
• Will complete 4-6 weeks of training on 1st shift.

Qualifications

You Must Have:

• High School Diploma or GED
• 1+ years of experience in waste or material handling
• Forklift experience

Qualifications We Prefer:

• Experience in handling hazardous materials.
• Forklift certification or experience safely operating material handling equipment.
• Strong attention to detail and demonstrated commitment to safety and quality in a manufacturing environment.

This role is

Onsite: Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance workers, as they are essential to the development of our engines.

Candidates will learn more about role type and current site status throughout the recruiting process. For onsite and hybrid roles, commuting to and from the assigned site is the employee’s personal responsibility.
