At Raytheon, the foundation of everything we do is rooted in our values and a higher calling – to help our nation and allies defend freedoms and deter aggression. We bring the strength of more than 100 years of experience and renowned engineering expertise to meet the needs of today’s mission and stay ahead of tomorrow’s threat. Our team solves tough, meaningful problems that create a safer, more secure world.
The Raytheon Capacity Growth Office (CGO) is seeking a Principal Manufacturing Systems Integration Engineer to play a key technical role in deploying, integrating, and validating the manufacturing capabilities required to create production capacity across CGO programs.
This position is focused on manufacturing optimization, hands-on implementation, and the technical integration of processes, workflows, tooling, instructions, and supporting systems to ensure factory readiness and performance.
This role is highly collaborative and execution-driven, working across engineering, operations, quality, test, program office and other technical functions to identify constraints, characterize limiting factors, and implement improvements or capabilities that unlock takt performance, yield, flow, and throughput.
Solutions may include new processes, redesigned workflows, tooling, digital enhancements, or automation where appropriate, but the focus is on addressing each manufacturing constraint with the right technical solution, ensuring that the deployed capability is robust, scalable, and ready for production.
Technical Problem Solving & Constraint Characterization
Identify and characterize manufacturing constraints related to cycle time, variability, flow breaks, material movement, operator workload, or process capability.
Lead and participate in cross-functional problem-solving efforts to eliminate systemic barriers to capacity creation.
Develop and execute practical corrective action plans using data, engineering principles, and on-the-floor validation.
Verify that implemented solutions measurably improve flow, yield, takt adherence, or throughput.
Production System & Manufacturing Capability Integration Implement improvements that enhance throughput, stabilize workflow, and increase capacity, including takt strategy adjustments, refined work instructions, optimized layouts, and upgraded tooling.• Translate manufacturing readiness needs into actionable technical requirements for processes, tooling, instructions, layouts, and production workflows.• Support deployment, setup, and prove‑in of new or enhanced manufacturing capabilities across CGO programs.• Conduct hands‑on readiness activities such as dry runs, pilot builds, workstation trials, and characterization builds to validate process capability, flow integrity, operator effectiveness, and production reliability.• Identify bottlenecks and constraints through process observation, data analysis, modeling, and cross‑functional engagement, ensuring corrective actions align with Lean principles, operator-centered design, safety, and takt objectives.
Cross-Functional Technical Tasking for Capacity Creation Serve as an integration point across functions, driving multi-disciplinary execution tasks needed to stand up or expand factory capacity.
Support readiness events, pilot builds, and go-live activities by coordinating technical inputs across engineering, operations, quality, supply chain, and CGO.
Troubleshoot emergent issues and drive rapid resolution to protect schedule, readiness, and flow.
Identify and escalate risks to manufacturing readiness, collaborating with stakeholders to drive resolution paths and mitigation strategies.
What You Will Do
- Integrate and optimize manufacturing workflows, tooling, instructions, and layouts to create ready‑for‑execution production capabilities.
- Identify and characterize manufacturing constraints, using data and hands‑on evaluation to resolve issues affecting flow, cycle time, variation, and throughput.
- Implement improvements that increase capacity, stabilize workflow, and strengthen process performance, including takt, layout, and instruction refinements.
- Translate manufacturing readiness needs into technical requirements and support deployment, setup, and prove‑in of new or enhanced capabilities.
- Conduct readiness activities—dry runs, pilot builds, workstation trials, and characterization builds—to validate flow, operator effectiveness, and process reliability.
- Lead and support cross‑functional problem-solving to eliminate barriers to capacity creation and verify improvements through measurable performance gains.
- Troubleshoot emergent manufacturing issues, ensuring rapid resolution to protect schedule, quality, and flow.
- Coordinate technical inputs across engineering, operations, quality, supply chain, test, and program leadership during readiness events and factory expansion efforts.
- Identify and escalate risks to manufacturing readiness and drive mitigation actions across stakeholders.
- What You Will Learn How integrated manufacturing systems—process architecture, tooling, flow design, digital instructions, and quality controls—shape takt performance and capacity.
- How to characterize constraints and apply targeted technical solutions that boost throughput and reduce variation.
- How to execute manufacturing capability deployment across multiple programs, factory sites, and production phases.
- How manufacturing engineering, operations, quality, and digital systems converge in modern production environments.
Qualifications
- You Must Have Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience, or an advanced degree in a related field and minimum 5 years experience.
- Experience in manufacturing engineering, production system integration, factory development, or hands-on manufacturing optimization.
Qualifications
- We Prefer Experience supporting factory startup, rate ramp, major transitions, or capacity expansion initiatives.
- Background in Lean manufacturing, takt-based flow, or continuous improvement methodologies.
- Experience with process characterization, capability analysis, or yield improvement activities.
- Experience identifying, characterizing, and addressing manufacturing constraints using analytical and hands-on methods.
- Demonstrated ability to integrate and validate manufacturing processes, tooling, workflows, and instructions.
