• Collins Aerospace is seeking to hire a Landing Gear Design Engineer.
• You will report to the Military Value Stream, Design Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the development of Landing Gear designs in response to military customer requirements and Collins’s design methodologies.
• You will have an opportunity to be involved from initial conceptual design to in-service support.
• You will also have an opportunity to support existing military programs, not limited too but including F-35, T7-A, F-16 and Apache Helicopters.
• You will also collaborate with various groups such as Engineering disciplines, Quality, Manufacturing and Operations.
• In addition, you will participate in discussions with internal and external customers on a global level.

What You Will Do

• Participate in design of Landing Gear and Systems components working within an integrated product development team and coordinating with divisional engineering to ensure product excellence and integrity is achieved.
• Support design Leads in liaising with customer/suppliers for all design related issues.
• Assist in fostering strong customer relationships through accountability, transparency, and credibility.
• Work through requirements compliance and verification and validation activities.
• Generates design documentation such as tolerance stack-ups, developmental and kinematic assemblies, interface agreements and proximity sensing analysis.
• Generate detailed part and assembly definition drawings and models/FTA using CATIA V5Create associated parts lists supporting part definition.
• Support Investigative design related issues and develop effective solutions.
• Support test requirements and support the test lab for design related tests.
• Design to requirements and work with engineering team on requirements management
• Assist with Engineering investigations into failures and participate in Root Cause and Corrective Action activities
• Ensure timely and satisfactory resolution of problems
• Complies with all EH&S and ethics policies and guidelines and conducts themselves in a safe and ethical manner.
• Maintains compliance to ITAR and regulatory requirements
• Communicate and make presentations to internal and external customers
• Travel up to 5% domestically and internationally when circumstances permit

Qualifications You Must Have:

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Design Engineering, or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major obtained by start date.
• Experience with 3D modeling software
• Experience with GD&T (ASME Y14.5)-Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing
• Experience with MS Office Excel, Word & PowerPoint

Qualifications We Prefer:

• CATIA V5 detailed modeling and FTA generation experience
• Familiarity with aerospace product life cycle development and management
• Familiar with ASME Y14.100 and Y14.41
• Working knowledge of high strength materials, manufacturing processes, and surface treatments
• Experience with Teamcenter PDM systems
• Demonstrated ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders at all levels.

Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Employees who are working in Onsite roles will work primarily onsite. This includes all production and maintenance employees, as they are essential to the development of our products.

The salary range for this role is 57,200 USD - 108,800 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
