About this role

ABOUT ROCKET LAB

Rocket Lab is the end-to-end space company building rockets, spacecraft, and critical subsystems that keep the world connected, protected, expand humanity’s reach to the Moon, Mars, and beyond. We move fast, build real hardware for meaningful missions, and make the impossible routine. Come shape the future with us.

SUPPLY CHAIN

Rocket Lab’s Supply Chain team is responsible for the flow of all materials, products, and components through the business. With many of our own products functioning as critical components to our own and our customers’ missions, the Supply Chain team has a direct impact on the success of our rocket and satellite programs.

They set up assembly kits that enable our technicians to put together our Electron rockets, manage inventory, look after shipping and receiving, manage direct and indirect procurement, and inspect and ensure that all our materials and products are compliant and up to standard. They are the chain that links our teams together and are critical to our success.

BUSINESS SYSTEMS ENGINEER I

Business Systems Engineers are key resources in leading the development and execution of important initiatives across the Supply Chain function. They are expected to identify and pursue opportunities for continuous improvement while supporting a best-in-class Supply Chain team. They will drive the development of diagnostics and transformations while delivering the highest quality results.

At Rocket Lab, a successful Business Systems Engineer must also possess strong analytical capabilities, a passion for problem-solving and critical thinking, and a forward-thinking mindset to integrate AI-driven solutions into supply chain operations. As we look to the future, Rocket Lab is committed to leveraging AI technologies to revolutionize supply chain operations.

Our vision is to develop intelligent agents and bots that work alongside supply chain professionals to enhance productivity, streamline decision making, and optimize processes.

WHAT YOU’LL GET TO DO:

  • Conduct in-depth analyses using SQL, R, Power BI, Python, and other tools to assess risk, gather intelligence, and formulate actionable plans.
  • Lead the design, development, and implementation of AI-driven tools and systems to support supply chain operations, including intelligent agents and bots that act as "wingmen" for supply chain professionals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for AI integration, automation, and process optimization across the supply chain.
  • Develop and deploy machine learning models to enhance forecasting, inventory management, procurement, and logistics.
  • Proactively assess and develop opportunities for efficiencies and automation, including the use of AI to reduce manual tasks.
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of procedures and documentation for AI-enabled tools and systems.
  • Provide training and support to the broader team on new AI tools, reports, and processes.
  • Identify and propose cost reduction opportunities across various products and services, leveraging AI to uncover hidden efficiencies.

YOU’LL BRING THESE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent years of work experience (HS Diploma and 4+ years of total work experience).
  • Experience with at least one of the following: SQL, R, Python, or Power BI.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Products (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Exposure to ERP systems.

THESE QUALIFICATIONS WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE:

  • A passion for leveraging AI and technology to solve complex problems and improve operational efficiency.
  • Proficient in MRP systems.
  • Prior experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with developing and deploying AI or machine learning models.
  • Experience conducting wide-ranging research and applying findings to real-world applications.
  • Clear, concise, and confident interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Team-oriented with a strong ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proven ability to clearly communicate, manage multiple work tasks, and provide regular status updates.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize effectively and efficiently.

This position may require prolonged periods of sitting, standing, walking, computer work, and occasional exposure to moderate levels of noise, dust, and fumes in production areas.

Join one of the world's fastest-growing space companies and own a piece of it. In addition to competitive base pay, you'll receive company stock as part of your total compensation package , giving you a direct stake in our success. As we expand to new launch sites, groundbreaking missions, and global markets, your ownership has the opportunity to grow alongside the company.

Our comprehensive benefits package includes our industry-leading Employee Stock Purchase Program (with a 15% discount on company stock), top-tier medical plans (HMO, PPO, and a zero cost HDHP option with a significant HSA company contribution), dental and vision coverage, paid vacation and sick time, 11 paid holidays, flexible spending and dependent care accounts, paid parental leave, disability and life insurance, and a 401(k) retirement plan with company match.

Additional perks include subsidized EV charging, onsite fitness centers (where available), discounted gym memberships, complimentary snacks and beverages, 50% employee discount on our popular merch store, and a variety of other employee discounts.

Level and base salary will be determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on the following considerations: job-related knowledge and skills, education, and experience.

Base Pay Range (CA Only)

$67,000 — $84,000 USD

WHAT TO EXPECT

We’re on a mission to unlock the potential of space to improve life on Earth, but that’s not an easy task. It takes hard work, determination, relentless innovation, teamwork, grit, and an unwavering commitment to achieving what others often deem impossible. Our people out-think, out-work, and out-pace.

We pride ourselves on having each other’s backs, checking our egos at the door, and rolling up our sleeves on all tasks big and small. We thrive under pressure, work to tight deadlines, and our focus is always on how we can deliver, rather than dwelling on the challenges that stand in the way.
