General Summary:
The SAGA software team, within Qualcomm’s Product and Tools Group, develops software products, services, platforms, and cloud solutions that enable critical workflows for Qualcomm customers, equipment manufacturers, independent software vendors, application developers, and internal engineering teams.
Our engineering environment spans software development, cloud infrastructure, developer platforms, CI/CD, containers, observability, automation, and large-scale distributed systems. We focus on building solutions that are reliable, scalable, secure, highly automated, and operationally efficient.
We are looking for a Senior DevOps Engineer who combines strong software engineering fundamentals with hands-on expertise in cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, automation, and production operations. In this role, you will design and operate platforms and tooling that enable engineering teams to build, deploy, monitor, and operate software efficiently at scale.
Responsibilities
As a Senior DevOps Engineer, you will:
- Design, build, automate, and operate highly available and scalable infrastructure across AWS and Azure.
- Develop and maintain CI/CD platforms and pipelines that automate software build, test, security validation, deployment, and release processes.
- Design and operate containerized application platforms using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Build and maintain infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) technologies such as Terraform/OpenTofu, CloudFormation, and Ansible.
- Develop software, scripts, tooling, and automation using languages such as Python, Go, PowerShell, Bash, or similar technologies.
- Partner with application development teams to define infrastructure, deployment, scalability, reliability, and operational requirements.
- Improve platform reliability through capacity planning, performance optimization, monitoring, automation, and elimination of repetitive operational work.
- Troubleshoot complex production and infrastructure issues across applications, containers, operating systems, networking, cloud services, and distributed systems.
- Implement cloud infrastructure and platform solutions that follow organizational security, identity, governance, and compliance requirements.
- Participate in production support and incident response, including troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, and development of preventative automation.
- Evaluate and introduce new technologies that improve developer productivity, platform reliability, security, scalability, and operational efficiency.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineers and help establish DevOps and platform engineering best practices across teams.
Key Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in Software Engineering, DevOps, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), Platform Engineering, Cloud Engineering, or related disciplines.
- Strong hands-on experience with public cloud environments such as AWS and/or Azure, including deployment, operations, networking, security, and scaling.
- Strong experience with Kubernetes and Docker, including deployment and operation of containerized applications.
- Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD systems using technologies such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, AWS CodeBuild/CodePipeline, or Azure DevOps.
- Strong experience with Infrastructure as Code and configuration management using technologies such as Terraform/OpenTofu, CloudFormation, and Ansible.
- Proficiency with at least one programming or scripting language such as Python, Go, PowerShell, or Bash.
- Strong knowledge of Git-based software development workflows, branching strategies, code review, and release automation.
- Good understanding of cloud and enterprise networking concepts including DNS, load balancing, proxies, firewalls, TLS, and network connectivity.
- Understanding of distributed systems, APIs, microservices, and cloud-native application architectures.
- Experience with monitoring and observability platforms such as Grafana, Prometheus/Mimir, Loki, OpenTelemetry, Splunk, Elasticsearch, or similar technologies.
- Experience troubleshooting production systems using logs, metrics, traces, operating-system tooling, and cloud-native diagnostics.
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to independently analyze complex technical problems across multiple layers of the technology stack.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 2+ years of Software Engineering or related work experience.
OR
Master's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field and 1+ year of Software Engineering or related work experience.
