About this role

Finance - San Francisco

About the Role

As a Financial Systems Engineer, you will design, build, and operate the financial systems and integrations that support critical accounting processes across Oracle Fusion Cloud and OpenAI’s broader finance technology ecosystem.

You’ll partner with Corporate Accounting, Accounts Payable, Revenue Accounting, Supply Chain, Engineering, Data, Tax, and other cross-functional teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and auditable solutions.

This role requires deep Oracle Financials expertise Accounts Payable processes; and design solutions for complex supply chain accounting, cost accounting, ASC 606 revenue recognition, and compute and data-center accounting. You’ll help redefine how finance teams work by applying automation, AI, and agentic approaches to reduce manual effort, strengthen controls, and accelerate accounting and close processes.

This role is based in San Francisco, CA. We use a hybrid work model of 3 days in the office per week and offer relocation assistance to new employees.

In this role, you will:

  • Own the solution designs, acting as both a hands-on engineer and a trusted functional partner.
  • Partner with Corporate Accounting to improve processes for equity, payroll, expense accruals, lease accounting, mergers and acquisitions, reconciliations, and the month-end and quarter-end close.
  • Work with Accounts Payable to deliver transformation initiatives across invoice intake, validation, matching, approvals, accounting, payments, supplier experience, exception management, and operational reporting.
  • Design accounting solutions for complex supply chain initiatives across procurement, receiving, inventory, Supply Chain Financial Orchestration, costing, intercompany flows, logistics, and the lifecycle from acquisition through sale.
  • Apply strong cost-accounting knowledge to standard cost, landed cost, purchase price variance, inventory valuation, manufacturing and logistics costs, cost of goods sold, and related financial controls.
  • Partner with Compute and Infrastructure Accounting to design systems solutions for data-center and compute operations, including asset capitalization, construction-in-progress, placed-in-service, depreciation, lease accounting, reconciliations, and close.
  • Partner with Revenue Accounting, Supply Chain, and Engineering to architect scalable Oracle-integrated solutions for hardware and other complex or nonstandard revenue arrangements under ASC 606, translating contract terms and operational events into accounting rules, data flows, controls, reconciliations, and a timely revenue close.
  • Translate complex accounting requirements and operational events into system architecture, accounting rules, data models, controls, test scenarios, and integrations with Oracle.
  • Architect integrations between Oracle and upstream or downstream product, revenue, payroll, treasury, data, and operational systems using REST APIs, events, middleware, and governed data pipelines.
  • Design and implement Oracle Financial Accounting Hub solutions from scratch for multiple upstream subledger applications, including event models, accounting rules, mappings, integrations, controls, reconciliations, and end-to-end traceability.
  • Resolve complex intercompany accounting issues involving foreign exchange, balancing, reconciliations, netting, settlement, and multi-entity operations.
  • Build AI-enabled and agentic finance solutions—including assistants, model context protocols, automated workflows, dynamic dashboards, and conversational access to enterprise data—to reduce manual work and improve decision-making.
  • Create monitoring, exception handling, reconciliation, regression-testing, and control frameworks so automated processes remain reliable, auditable, and supportable during close.
  • Triage critical production issues, lead root-cause analysis, and deliver permanent fixes that improve both system design and finance operations.

You might thrive in this role if you have:

  • 10+ years of experience in financial systems engineeringation initiatives.
  • 8+ years of hands-on experience with Oracle Fusion Financials and experience with several of the following: General Ledger, Payables, Fixed Assets, Lease Accounting, Intercompany, Cash Management, Cost Accounting, and Financial Accounting Hub.
  • Experience delivering at least two full-cycle Oracle Fusion implementations or comparably complex enterprise finance programs.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate accounting processes, including equity, payroll, expense accruals, lease accounting, mergers and acquisitions, reconciliations, and financial close.
  • Hands-on experience transforming Accounts Payable processes and integrating procurement, invoicing, tax, payments, suppliers, and reporting capabilities.
  • Deep understanding of supply chain accounting, Supply Chain Financial Orchestration, inventory and cost accounting, standard and landed costs, purchase price variance, logistics costs, and cost of goods sold.
  • Strong knowledge of ASC 606 and experience designing Oracle-integrated accounting solutions for hardware, supply chain, and other complex or nonstandard revenue arrangements in partnership with Revenue Accounting and Engineering teams.
  • Experience implementing Oracle Financial Accounting Hub from initial design through production for multiple upstream subledger applications, including accounting rules, integrations, controls, and reconciliations.
  • Experience Working with enterprise integrations teams using Oracle Integration Clouds.
  • Demonstrated interest and experience in applying AI, agents, automation, and nontraditional engineering approaches to finance operations and close processes.
  • Experience supporting compute infrastructure or data-center accounting—including asset capitalization, construction-in-progress, placed-in-service, depreciation, and lease accounting—is a strong advantage.
  • Experience resolving global intercompany challenges involving foreign exchange, multi-entity balancing, netting, settlement, and reconciliations.
  • A strong controls and compliance mindset, with the judgment to improve automation and user experience without compromising auditability or data integrity.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to translate between Accounting, Finance, Engineering, Data, and business stakeholders.
  • A bias for action paired with systems thinking—you can solve urgent operational problems while designing scalable foundations for future growth.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Engineering, Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
