Power Analysis and Optimization Intern - 2027
About this role
Employer-provided description, formatted for easier reading.
NVIDIA is committed not only to delivering outstanding chip performance, but also to improving power efficiency across every product. Performance per watt is critical to our success.
The Power Analysis and Optimization team helps IP teams define power targets for architectural changes and new features, identify power-saving opportunities throughout the ASIC design process—from architecture definition through place and route—and resolve power issues that could affect functionality or performance.
As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience in ASIC power analysis, modeling, optimization, and automation while contributing to more energy-efficient NVIDIA products.
What you’ll be doing:
- Support the development of IP-level power models for early power estimation of architectural changes and new features.
- Assist IP teams in analyzing power consumption across different workloads and application scenarios.
- Use internally developed flows and industry-standard tools to perform power analysis and identify optimization opportunities.
- Work with design teams to evaluate proposed power optimizations.
- Develop scripts and automation flow to improve the work efficiency.
What we need to see:
- Currently pursuing a BS/MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Basic understanding of digital circuit design, computer architecture, or ASIC design methodology.
- Familiarity with power consumption concepts and common low-power design techniques.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative engineering environment.
Ways to stand out from the crowd:
- Coursework or project experience in RTL design, synthesis, physical design, or computer architecture.
- Familiarity with power-analysis tools such as PrimeTime PX or PowerArtist.
- Experience with power modeling, workload analysis, or low-power design.
- Experience building or integrating AI agents/skills.
NVIDIA is widely considered one of the technology industry’s most desirable employers, bringing together some of the world’s most talented and innovative people. Are you creative, analytical, and eager to improve the power efficiency of cutting-edge GPU and SoC designs? Do you enjoy understanding complex architectures, analyzing power behavior, and finding opportunities to improve performance per watt?
If so, we want to hear from you.
