The Senior Manager, Talent Development will play a crucial role in shaping who tells our stories on air, in the field and across every platform where audiences engage with NBC News. We are looking for an experienced network news professional with a strong understanding of the rapidly evolving media landscape, including streaming, social, digital video, podcasts and other emerging platforms.
The ideal candidate will have sharp editorial instincts and a deep understanding of what makes on-air talent resonate with News audiences across all platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and maintain a deep, diverse pipeline of established and emerging on-air, digital-first and multi-platform journalists.
- Negotiate contract renewals for NBC News on-air contributors and develop strong contributor pipelines
- Evaluate talent through interviews, reels, auditions and editorial exercises.
- Manage shared internal systems that keep team updated on all contract timelines and external talent scouting/recruitment meetings
- Monitor and capture hiring trends, talent moves and rising talent across emerging formats, including streaming, vertical video, social-first journalism, podcasts, newsletters and other audience-driven platforms.
- Compile research, decks and other material to support full talent recruitment process
- Collaborate with scheduling and editorial teams on anchor assignments, backfilling needs and short- and long-term coverage plans.
- At least 8 years of progressive growth in editorial and production leadership roles and or proven track record of substantial success with new media or on-air network news talent recruitment
- Deep understanding of news programming and the evolving linear, streaming, social and digital media landscape.
- Strong editorial instincts and a demonstrated ability to identify talent with credibility, range, audience appeal and long-term growth potential.
- Superior research, organizational, communication and follow-through skills.
- Ability to work with discretion and credibility in a fast-paced, high-visibility environment.
- A proactive, curious mindset with a passion for discovering emerging voices.
Additional Requirements
- Hybrid : This position currently has a hybrid schedule, which requires contributing from the office a minimum of four days per week.

- Salary range: $150,000 - $180,000; bonus eligible.
