Telemundo 47 New York (WNJU), part of NBCUniversal Local, is seeking a versatile and dynamic Anchor/Reporter to join our award-winning newsroom. This role is ideal for a journalist who excels both at the anchor desk and in the field, with the ability to deliver compelling storytelling across broadcast, streaming, digital, and social platforms.

The Anchor/Reporter will anchor newscasts and special coverage as assigned while also serving as a general assignment and enterprise reporter. The successful candidate will be a strong storyteller, confident live performer, and skilled journalist who can break news, develop original content, and connect with the diverse communities of the New York Tri-State area.

Responsibilities

  • Anchor regularly scheduled newscasts, breaking news coverage, and special programming
  • Report from the field, delivering live shots, interviews, and packaged stories for daily newscasts and digital platforms
  • Develop, research, write, and produce enterprise stories that inform and engage viewers
  • Contribute original story ideas and participate actively in editorial meetings
  • Cover breaking news, severe weather, major events, and community-impact stories
  • Write and edit content for television, streaming, digital, and social media platforms
  • Build and maintain a strong network of community sources and contacts
  • Collaborate closely with producers, assignment editors, photographers, anchors, and digital teams to produce high-quality journalism
  • Represent WNJU at community events, station initiatives, and public appearances as assigned
  • Uphold NBCUniversal's journalistic standards, ethics, and commitment to accuracy
  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Broadcasting, or related field, or equivalent professional experience
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of television news experience as an anchor, reporter, or anchor/reporter.
  • Fluency in Spanish (written and verbal) required; bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English preferred
  • Strong on-air presentation, live reporting, and interviewing skills
  • Exceptional writing, storytelling, and editorial judgment
  • Demonstrated ability to cover breaking news and perform effectively under deadline pressure
  • Experience developing enterprise stories and cultivating sources
  • Proficiency with digital, streaming, and social media platforms
  • Ability to work independently in the field and collaboratively within a newsroom environment
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel throughout the New York Tri-State area for assignments
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including early mornings, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours during major news events
  • Must be willing to join SAG-AFTRA

Desired Characteristics

  • Strong connection to and understanding of the Hispanic communities served by Telemundo 47.
  • General market reporting experience preferred
  • Polished on-air presence with the ability to build audience trust and credibility
  • Proven ability to transition seamlessly between anchoring and field reporting responsibilities
  • Experience with investigative, consumer, political, or community-focused reporting
  • Strong social media and audience engagement skills
  • Demonstrated ability to generate original story ideas and consistently deliver impactful content
  • Collaborative, team-oriented approach with a positive work ethic
  • Passion for local journalism and serving the community through meaningful storytelling

Eligibility Requirements

  • Must be willing to work in New York City
  • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
  • Must be covered by Solutions, NBCUniversal's Alternative Dispute Resolution Program

Required On-Site: This position is required to be performed full-time from an NBCUniversal-designated worksite.

Salary Range: $150,000-175,000/year
