The Mojang web team is looking for a Software Engineer II who is passionate about modern, delightful web experiences in service of the most popular game in the world: Minecraft! As a software engineer on Minecraft Web team, you will work closely with studio teams to bring Minecraft's whimsy to hundreds of millions of players on the web.

You will practice mature engineering and prioritize responsiveness, accessibility, and maintainability while partnering across disciplines and other teams to bring delightful, Minecrafty product experiences to life.

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain modern web applications and UI components that deliver engaging, high-quality experiences for Minecraft players
  • Implement features using modern web technologies such as React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS while following established engineering standards and best practices
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, product managers, and other partners to deliver customer-focused web experiences
  • Contribute to shared UI components, libraries, and platform capabilities that improve consistency, accessibility, and developer productivity across Minecraft web experiences
  • Help ensure web applications meet quality standards for accessibility, performance, reliability, security, and maintainability

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
  • OR equivalent experience
  • 2+ years of experience building web applications using Web UI framework such as React, TypeScript, HTML, JavaScript and CSS
  • 2+ years experience consuming REST APIs and integrating front-end applications with backend services
  • 2+ years experience using source control systems such as Git and troubleshooting and debugging web applications

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Understanding of modern web development concepts, including responsive design, browser fundamentals, and web application architecture
  • Familiarity with component-based design systems or reusable UI libraries
  • Understanding of web accessibility standards and inclusive design principles
  • Experience collaborating in a cross-functional Agile development environment
  • Passion for crafting delightful user experiences and attention to details

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U. S. is USD $102,100 - $202,200 per year.

There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $133,800 - $219,200 per year.
