Overview The Remote Help team within Windows Servicing and Delivery (WSD) builds secure, reliable, and accessible remote assistance solutions that enable organizations to support users across Windows and macOS.
Our services help millions of customers stay connected, productive, and supported through Remote Help and Quick Assist experiences that span client applications, cloud services, identity systems, and real-time communication technologies.
As a Software Engineer II, you will work across the full stack, contributing to client applications, cloud services, authentication systems, APIs, telemetry, and operational excellence. This role offers the opportunity to solve technical problems, develop expertise in distributed systems and Windows technologies, and have direct impact on customer support experiences at global scale.

Responsibilities
- Design, implement, test, deploy, and maintain features across Remote Help clients, web experiences, cloud services, APIs, and supporting infrastructure.
- Contribute to architecture and service integration efforts across Remote Assistance services, identity systems, relay services, storage platforms, and traffic management dependencies.
- Develop and improve remote session establishment, screen sharing, remote control, and helper-to-sharer connectivity experiences.
- Build secure authentication and authorization capabilities using Microsoft Account, Microsoft Entra ID, Intune permissions, and role-based access controls.
- Partner with engineers, product managers, designers, and support teams to deliver reliable and accessible customer experiences across Windows and macOS.
- Expand automated testing, accessibility validation, telemetry, and monitoring to improve product quality and service reliability.
- Use telemetry and customer insights to identify service health trends, improve performance, and drive data-informed engineering decisions.
- Participate in incident response, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, mitigation planning, and post-incident reviews to improve service resiliency.
- Support feature flighting, deployment validation, compliance requirements, localization efforts, Store releases, and production rollouts.
- Apply secure engineering practices and contribute to privacy, compliance, government cloud, and security initiatives.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- OR equivalent experience.
Other Requirements
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
- Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 5+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- OR equivalent experience.

Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U. S. is USD $102,100 - $202,200 per year.
There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $133,800 - $219,200 per year.
