Job description

About this role

Overview Microsoft Advertising is looking for a Principal Product Manager to own two increasingly important ways developers and AI agents interact with our advertising platform: Microsoft Ads API and the Model Context Protocol (MCP) experience.

Advertising is moving beyond graphical user interfaces. Advertisers, agencies, partners, developers, and increasingly AI agents need programmatic ways to create, understand, optimize, and manage advertising campaigns. We’re the team behind the infrastructure that powers the Microsoft Advertising buying experience, and we’re looking for a PM who wants to help define it.

You’ll take ownership of our API and MCP roadmap, work at the intersection of advertising, developer platforms, and AI agents, with the opportunity to shape both the product and the team.

In this role, you will help design the interface between Microsoft Advertising and the next generation of software. You will own the product strategy and roadmap for our MCP and API experiences, working across engineering, product, design, partner teams, and customers to make Microsoft Advertising easier to build on and easier for agents to use.

Microsoft’s mission is to empower every person and every organization on the planet to achieve more. As employees, we come together with a growth mindset, innovate to empower others, and collaborate to realize our shared goals.

AI Experiences employees who live within a 50- mile commute of a designated Microsoft Hub in the U.S. are expected to work from the office at least four days per week. This expectation is subject to local law and may vary by jurisdiction.

Responsibilities

  • Product Leadership: Develop and communicate the strategy and roadmap for Microsoft Ads MCP and API.
  • Execution: Build MCP into a reliable interface through which AI agents can understand and manage advertising campaigns.
  • Evangelism: Lead go-to-market efforts with marketing and sales, ensuring product launches drive adoption, improve creative coverage, and deliver measurable advertiser impact.
  • Metrics: Define and own the success measures for MCP and API end-to-end.
  • Industry Leadership: Establish Microsoft Ads as a leader in developer and agentic tooling.

Required qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree AND 5+ years' experience in product/service/program management
  • OR equivalent experience.

Preferred qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree AND 8+ years' experience in product/service/program management
  • OR equivalent experience.
  • Working knowledge of ads ecosystem, particularly the buy-side, including API, MCP, campaign management, or agentic capabilities.
  • Experience with AI agents, large language models, MCP, or related developer technologies.
  • Understanding of API contracts, authentication, schemas, versioning, reliability, and developer workflows.
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency working directly with APIs.
  • Experience using written communication to engage stakeholders and customers.
