Overview Microsoft's AI business is rapidly evolving, with new products, business models, pricing constructs, infrastructure investments, and customer demand patterns emerging at an unprecedented pace. Understanding the economics of these businesses and translating them into actionable financial insights is critical to enabling sustainable growth and informed investment decisions.
We are seeking a Group Finance Manager - AI margin FP&A to lead a team responsible for AI margin management, GPU economics, financial reporting, and planning across Microsoft's AI portfolio. This role will oversee the financial frameworks, data platforms, and analytic capabilities that provide transparency into AI business performance and profitability.
The successful candidate will lead a high-performing team responsible for GPU rate setting and billing, AI margin analytics, reporting automation, and business performance insights across both first-party and frontier AI workloads.
This role requires a leader who can connect disparate data, systems, and business drivers into a cohesive understanding of AI economics and influence decisions across product, engineering, and finance organizations.
Success in this role requires exceptional business acumen, strong analytical leadership, systems thinking, and the ability to navigate ambiguity in a rapidly evolving environment.

Responsibilities
Lead AI Margin & Business Economics
- Own the financial frameworks used to assess profitability and performance across Microsoft's AI portfolio.
- Provide recommendations that influence investment decisions, business strategy, and financial outcomes.
Lead AI Financial Planning & Reporting
- Oversee financial planning, forecasting, close, long-range planning, and executive reporting across AI businesses.
- Ensure financial narratives are supported by clear operational and financial drivers.
- Deliver timely, trusted insights that inform decisions across Finance and business leadership.
Drive GPU Economics & Cost Transparency
- Lead the methodologies governing GPU cost allocation, rate setting, and billing.
- Improve transparency and understanding of AI infrastructure economics across products, services, and stakeholders.
- Partner across engineering, infrastructure, product, and finance teams to evolve financial models in support of changing business needs.
Build Organizational Capability & Strategic Influence
- Lead and develop a high-performing team focused on AI margin analytics, planning, and business insights.
- Drive scalable analytics, automation, and decision-support capabilities that improve operational efficiency and business visibility.
- Translate complex technical and financial concepts into clear, executive-ready recommendations.

Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 4+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field
- OR Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 6+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, or related field, OR equivalent experience.
Preferred
- Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 8+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience OR
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 12+ years of post-graduate financial analysis, accounting, controllership, or finance work experience OR equivalent experience
- Experience leading teams and developing talent.
- Experience supporting cloud, AI, infrastructure, or technology businesses.
- Deep understanding of business economics, profitability analysis, and cost allocation methodologies.
- Experience working with large-scale data, reporting platforms, and financial automation.
- Ability to connect technical, operational, and financial drivers into clear business insights.
- Experience operating effectively in highly ambiguous and rapidly changing environments.
Financial Analysis M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U. S. is USD $116,900 - $203,600 per year.
There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $148,400 - $222,600 per year.
