Job description

About this role

Our vision is to transform how the world uses information to enrich life for all .

Micron Technology is a world leader in innovating memory and storage solutions that accelerate the transformation of information into intelligence, inspiring the world to learn, communicate and advance faster than ever.

Micron is continuously evolving how complex semiconductor manufacturing expansion programs are planned and executed. As our programs become larger and increasingly interconnected, successful fab startup requires strong integration across construction, facilities, procurement, logistics, tool installation, qualification, manufacturing readiness, and production ramp.

We are seeking a Senior Principal Program Manager, Program & Tool Installation Integration to lead end-to-end integration for the Maple/F15 startup program in Hiroshima, Japan.

This role has a dual mandate :

  • Deliver Maple/F15: Lead program and tool-installation integration across the full startup lifecycle, establishing clear dependencies, priorities, constraints, risks, and mitigation actions across functional organizations.
  • Develop Future Capability: Leverage the Maple/F15 execution environment to identify, develop, validate, and continuously improve integrated program-management and Tool Installation & Qualification approaches that can contribute to the evolution of Micron’s global manufacturing expansion capabilities.

The successful candidate will be a senior integration leader who can connect organizations, processes, schedules, and data to enable earlier risk identification, better decision-making, and more predictable startup execution.

This direction is complementary to Micron’s existing Global TIQ initiative, which is focused on a globally standardized execution model, explicit ownership across TIQ phases, improved readiness predictability, and shorter cycle times.

Key Responsibilities

1. Maple/F15 Program Integration

  • Lead development and execution of an integrated startup framework connecting construction, facilities, procurement, logistics, tool installation, qualification, manufacturing readiness, and production ramp.
  • Develop and maintain the program-level integrated master schedule, including key milestones, interfaces, dependencies, assumptions, constraints, and decision points.
  • Integrate functional schedules into an end-to-end program view that enables teams to understand upstream and downstream impacts.
  • Establish clear relationships between construction readiness, utility readiness, tool-installation requirements, qualification, and manufacturing need dates.
  • Identify critical and near-critical paths and proactively drive resolution of cross-functional constraints.
  • Evaluate the program impact of changes in scope, schedule, design, layout, tool plan, procurement, resources, and priorities.
  • Lead scenario analysis and recovery planning when changes affect key startup milestones.
  • Establish effective program-level change management and escalation mechanisms.
  • Provide integrated program status, risks, scenarios, and recommendations to site and senior leadership.
  • Drive alignment toward a reliable single source of truth for program milestones and dependencies.

The last point builds naturally on the existing Maple approach, where the project has emphasized maintaining a single source of truth across schedule, scope, and cost.

2.

End-to-End Tool Installation & Qualification Integration

Lead integration across the complete tool startup lifecycle, including:

Tool Planning → Procurement → Logistics & Transportation → Receiving/Dock → Move-In → Facility Readiness → Tool Hookup → Utility Turn-On → Vendor Installation → Equipment Qualification → Process Qualification → Manufacturing Release

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Establish the integrated TIQ execution framework for Maple/F15.
  • Integrate tool plans and manufacturing priorities with construction, facilities, procurement, logistics, and resource readiness.
  • Define critical tool-installation milestones, interfaces, dependencies, handoffs, and readiness requirements.
  • Integrate dock capacity, transportation, rigging, move-in, supporting equipment, utility availability, hookup, vendor resources, and qualification requirements.
  • Provide visibility to tool-level and fleet-level constraints and their impact on manufacturing priorities.
  • Identify conflicts and constraints early, before they impact critical tool or ramp milestones.
  • Develop integrated mitigation and recovery options when tool delivery, facilities, construction, vendor resources, or qualification plans change.
  • Establish appropriate change-control mechanisms for major tool-plan, layout, delivery, facility, and qualification changes.
  • Drive resolution of cross-functional issues that cannot be resolved within an individual organization.
  • Improve predictability of tool readiness and overall startup performance.

Internal Micron material has similarly explored integrating construction/base-build readiness with tool-hookup schedules and manufacturing need dates to expose readiness constraints and priorities earlier.

3. Program & TIQ Capability Development

Beyond Maple/F15 execution, this position will act as a key leader and contributor to the continued evolution of Micron’s program and tool-installation integration capabilities .

The role will:

  • Identify systemic gaps and improvement opportunities in existing program and TIQ management practices.
  • Develop improved integration methodologies, standard milestone structures, dependency logic, and readiness criteria.
  • Define business-process, governance, data, and reporting requirements needed to enable effective end-to-end program integration.
  • Partner with site and global stakeholders to develop scalable solutions rather than project-specific workarounds.
  • Capture lessons learned and best practices from Maple/F15 and convert them into reusable program-management capabilities.
  • Support standardization and replication of successful integration practices across Micron’s global manufacturing network.
  • Partner with digital, data, scheduling, and system teams to improve automation, analytics, forecasting, and decision support.
  • Drive continuous improvement in schedule predictability, tool readiness, cycle time, resource utilization, and execution effectiveness.
  • Provide leadership and subject-matter expertise to future global program and TIQ improvement initiatives.

This is also consistent with Micron's broader project-management systems direction, where integrated platforms are intended to connect people, processes, and project data while reducing inconsistent tools and manual workarounds.

4. Cross-Functional & Global Leadership

  • Provide senior leadership across a highly matrixed, multicultural organization without depending on direct reporting authority.
  • Build strong partnerships across Construction, Facilities, Manufacturing, Procurement, Supply Chain, Logistics, Engineering, Planning, IT/Digital, EHS, Finance, and external suppliers.
  • Facilitate alignment when functional priorities, assumptions, requirements, or schedules conflict.
  • Translate complex technical and schedule dependencies into clear business impacts, alternatives, and decisions.
  • Establish effective governance, action tracking, escalation, and decision-making mechanisms.
  • Communicate effectively with technical teams, program leaders, site leadership, and global executives.
  • Promote a collaborative, one-team operating model while respecting functional ownership and accountability.
  • Coach and develop program managers, schedulers, tool-installation coordinators, and functional workstream leaders as appropriate.
  • Represent Maple/F15 in applicable global integration and continuous-improvement initiatives.
  • Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Semiconductor Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, Project/Program Management, Operations, or a related tec
