Meta Robotics Studio is building the next generation of intelligent robotics systems. We are looking for a Product Design Engineer to drive the robotic hardware development from early stage concept and architecture through design verification, integration and mass production.

The APAC Hardware team is building products that make it easier for people to connect with the ones they love most. We are a team of experts developing and shipping products at the intersection of hardware, software, and content.

We are seeking a Product Design Engineer who has experience working on mechanical engineering teams for consumer electronics, mobile products or Robotics. We are looking for individuals comfortable iterating through ambiguity and taking calculated risks to deliver innovative solutions.

Product Design Engineer, Meta Robotics Studio, APAC Responsibilities

• Proactively identify and solve critical, long-term, and often ambiguous problems that impact strategic objectives. Influence key leaders and functional strategy, and participate in the development of the organization's technical roadmap
• Drive investments in engineering craft, advocate for higher product quality and efficiency, and establish new best practices to resolve business-critical challenges
• Model, build, test, and refine prototypes and characterization test systems
• Work across the full product development cycle, from concept inception to shipping product
• Push state-of-the-art technologies and approaches to solving complex mechanical problems while working with cross functional technical teams
• Design for Manufacturability - Ensure the design is robust and the equipment, process and materials are scalable to ramp
• Specify and design custom metrology and measurement systems
• Plan and perform characterization and system performance testing
• Collaborate with internal cross functional teams and external industry partners

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a relevant field, or equivalent industry experience
• 10+ years of product design and development experience of high volume consumer electronics, including complex mechatronics, highly-integrated structural assemblies (e.g., Flatpack), actuators, and precision gear trains
• Experience performing and designing DOEs, data analysis, SPC control, Gauge R&R, root cause investigation, failure analysis, and implementing corrective action
• Experience leading communications with cross-functional partners, fluent English
• Working knowledge in material properties, such as plastics, metal, adhesive
• Testing and analysis experience (FEA, Simulation, Design of Experiments, etc.)
• Knowledge of high-volume manufacturing techniques (stamping, machining, 3D printing, injection molding, etc.)
• Experience with NX CAD
• Track record of delivering high volume products to the market

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
• MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering
• Demonstrated experience in integrating AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
• Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
• Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
• Experience scaling complex architectures from 0-to-1 with Asia-based supply chains, including driving Tier-1 JDM/ODM partners to high-quality execution aligned with defined quality targets
