Meta is seeking an experienced manager to lead regulatory escalation management within our Crisis and Response organization. In this role, you will oversee a team responsible for managing high-stakes regulatory inquiries, government-mandated requests, and compliance escalations across Meta's global platforms, including those related to AI systems and AI-generated content.
You will serve as a senior point of contact for regulatory bodies, internal legal and policy teams, and cross-functional stakeholders, ensuring that escalated matters are triaged, tracked, and resolved in accordance with applicable legal frameworks and internal standards.
This role sits at the intersection of regulatory compliance, crisis response, and operational governance, and requires deep expertise in navigating complex, time-sensitive regulatory environments at scale.
Manager, Regulatory Escalations Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of specialists responsible for managing regulatory escalations across multiple jurisdictions and product surfaces, including AI-related inquiries
- Establish and continuously refine escalation frameworks, triage protocols, and response workflows to ensure timely and compliant handling of regulatory inquiries
- Serve as a senior liaison between regulatory bodies, government agencies, and internal legal, policy, and operations teams during high-priority escalations
- Drive cross-functional alignment on regulatory response strategies, coordinating with Legal, Public Policy, Trust and Safety, and Product teams
- Oversee the development and maintenance of documentation, audit trails, and reporting mechanisms required for regulatory accountability
- Identify systemic risks and operational gaps in escalation handling, and lead initiatives to address them through process improvement and policy development
- Leverage AI tools to improve response workflows, escalation triage, and operational efficiency
- Manage team capacity, prioritization, and performance across concurrent regulatory matters with competing deadlines
- Provide strategic guidance and escalation support to team members on novel or ambiguous regulatory situations
- Partner with global compliance and legal teams to ensure escalation practices remain current with evolving regulatory requirements across relevant markets, including emerging AI regulations
- Develop and present reporting and insights on escalation trends, resolution outcomes, and operational health to senior leadership
Minimum Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in regulatory compliance, crisis and response management, legal operations, or a related field
- 6+ years of experience managing teams responsible for regulatory, legal, or government-facing escalation workflows
- Experience operating within regulatory frameworks governing technology platforms, including data disclosure, content regulation, or government inquiry response
- Experience building and scaling operational processes for managing high-volume, time-sensitive regulatory or legal matters
- Experience communicating regulatory risk and escalation status to senior leadership and cross-functional stakeholders through written briefings and structured reporting
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
- Experience designing escalation management systems, case tracking tools, or compliance reporting infrastructure in a technology or platform environment
- Familiarity with global regulatory frameworks applicable to large-scale technology platforms, such as data protection laws, digital services regulations, AI governance requirements, or content governance requirements
- Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
- Experience working directly with regulatory agencies or government bodies in a compliance, legal, or policy capacity across multiple jurisdictions
- Experience with AI regulations and policies, including understanding of emerging AI compliance frameworks
- Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
- Track record of leading organizational change in response to evolving regulatory landscapes, including developing new policies and training programs for compliance teams
