About the role
We're looking for an experienced program and community builder to own the experience of working at Hex. You'll start by redesigning New Hire Onboarding into something new Hexans actually experience rather than a calendar invite, so that by the end of week two they feel productive, connected, and genuinely thrilled to be here.
From there you'll shape the moments that carry the rest of the lifecycle: all-hands, yearly company kickoff, team colos, and the offices themselves. In everything you do, you'll obsess over helping Hexans connect more deeply to our mission, our product, our customers, and each other.
This role reports to our Head of People and is based in San Francisco. We're in the office at least three days a week, and most of us are there more than that, because we do our best thinking and building together in person. We're looking for someone who's genuinely excited to be there alongside the team.
What you'll do
Onboarding: make people feel engrained by week two, not month two
- Redesign and host the onboarding experience. Own the full arc so that by the end of two weeks a new Hexan feels productive, connected, and genuinely thrilled to be here and understands what makes us unique. You'll be the narrator and the host: this role lives or dies on great storytelling and great stage presence.
- Extend onboarding beyond the sessions. Design the pre-boarding runway before day one, and the tail that continues well after week two. Onboarding is an experience that folks remember and think of fondly.
- Build micro-communities for each cohort. Give every new Hexan class a sense of belonging to something, connections that outlast their first week and knit them into the wider team.
- Make it measurable. Define what "engrained and fired up" actually means and instrument it, so we know onboarding is working and can raise the bar every new Hexan.
Comms: help make it easy for folks to understand what we are focused on, and why
- Support all-hands and company moments as storytelling, not logistics. Treat these like a product surface: crafted, intentional, and worth people's time.
- Fix the Slack overwhelm. Reset the social and operating norms, where things get posted, what deserves a broadcast, how people find signal so comms feel intentional instead of overwhelming.
Events: bring the team together with a stunning bar
- Own CKO (company kickoff). Plan our all-company kickoff end to end, managing the confirmed third-party planner while keeping every touchpoint distinctly Hex.
- Partner on QBRs. Work closely with our amazing revenue team to help support logistics and experiences for QBRs.
- Standardize colos. Build a self-serve portal for team leads with activity ideas, agenda templates, budgets, logistics so that any lead can run a great colo without reinventing it each time.
Workplace: spaces people actually want to come to
- Project manage the NYC buildout. Drive our design firm through the New York office buildout, ensuring our physical spaces continue to feel like an key part of the employee experience.
- Lead the office coordinators. Our SF and NYC office coordinators are an extension of this role; you'll set the bar for what "in-office" feels like and manage the people who deliver it day to day.
- Drive in-office engagement. Programming, food, and amenities that actually pull people in measured, iterated, and tied to what the team tells us would bring them in.
What we're looking for
- You're a storyteller and a host. You can hold a room, land a narrative, and make people feel something. Great written and verbal comms are non-negotiable.
- You're a bit of a weirdo, and proud of it. You have a track record of out-of-distribution thinking, designing moments and experiences no one asked for but everyone remembers.
- You're a builder who ships systems, not one-offs. You've run events, onboarding, workplace, or internal comms and turned them into durable, repeatable programs.
- You partner with AI and automation instinctively. You reach for automation on the repeatable stuff so your energy goes to the high-craft, human moments. You're excited that we're building this way.
- You're high-agency and comfortable with ambiguity. You spot the highest-leverage moment in the employee journey, set direction, and build without waiting for a roadmap.
- You hold a stunning bar. Good enough is never good enough, in what you ship and how every person experiences it.
In addition to our unique culture, Hex proudly offers a competitive total rewards package, including but not limited to, market-benched salary & equity, comprehensive health benefits, and flexible paid time off.
