Get to Know the Team

We are a team establishing the accounting position on every headline Grab M&A transaction. Technical Accounting Group (TAG) sits within the Group Accounting Office and reports into the Chief Accounting Officer (CAO). We set the accounting position for significant corporate activities or transactions, investments, financing and complex financial instruments.

We are also trusted advisors to stakeholders across the region, turning complex accounting concepts into clear, well-informed business decisions.

Get to Know the Role

This role puts you inside how M&A actually gets booked in the financial statements, from the perspective of purchase price allocations, put/call options, valuation, deal structuring, alongside the IFRS playbook covering business combinations, revenue, financial instruments, leases, share based payment, operating segments and impairment. It is a role with Big Four technical depth, at the speed of a technology company.

You will be based at our Malaysia office in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

  • IFRS compliance: Ensure the Group’s financial statements comply with IFRS accounting standards.
  • Financial reporting: Prepare accounting memos on initial classification and measurement for newly identified accounting issues.
  • Quarter-end closing: Support the quarter-end closing process by ensuring all accounting items relating to significant transactions and the valuation of financial instruments are accurately recorded and reported.
  • Technical expertise: Provide technical accounting guidance and support to the finance team and other stakeholders. Stay updated on changes to IFRS and advise on their impact on the Group’s financial statements.
  • Audit support: Serve as the primary contact for external auditors on technical accounting documentation. Prepare and present supporting analysis as needed with the guidance of the Reporting Manager.
  • Process improvement: Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the financial reporting process. Leverage technology and best practices to streamline accounting operations.
  • Team collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, and tax, to ensure the accurate application of accounting standards and have exposure to senior finance leadership, including the Chief Accounting Officer.

What Essential Skills You Will Need

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field. A professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, CPA) is preferred.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in technical accounting, external audit, or financial reporting with IFRS exposure in preparing financial statements and working with complex accounting issues. Prior experience in a Big Four firm advantageous.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent ability to collaborate and explain complex accounting concepts to stakeholders.
