About the job

-----------------

A problem isn’t truly solved until it’s solved for all. That’s why Googlers build products that help create opportunities for everyone, whether down the street or across the globe. As a Technical Program Manager at Google, you’ll use your technical expertise to lead complex, multi-disciplinary projects from start to finish.

You’ll work with stakeholders to plan requirements, identify risks, manage project schedules, and communicate clearly with cross-functional partners across the company. You're equally comfortable explaining your team's analyses and recommendations to executives as you are discussing the technical tradeoffs in product development with engineers.

The Space and Power Efficiency (SPE) team is focused on maximizing the accuracy, availability, and utilization of usable power and server floor space across Google's global fleet. This scope encompasses both Google's first-party Data Centers and its presence in third-party colocation facilities.

The team's vision is that every watt and square foot on the server floor is accurately accounted for and unlocked to enable predictable, high-efficiency deployment of compute and networking infrastructure.

To achieve this, SPE governs fleet-wide power and spatial capacity reconciliation, executes power oversubscription and space-release strategies, manages network power reservations, and enhances simulation and planning tools to unlock stranded capacity within data center reliability limits.

Leading in the GIG Space and Power Efficiency (SPE) team means owning the critical operational and technical bridge between physical data center constraints and the usable space and power capacity made available to Alphabet's product areas. The core responsibilities span fleet-wide capacity governance, feasibility oversight, tooling automation, and cross-functional leadership to maximize infrastructure utilization at scale.

The AI and Infrastructure team is redefining what’s possible. We empower Google customers with breakthrough capabilities and insights by delivering AI and Infrastructure at unparalleled scale, efficiency, reliability and velocity. Our customers include Googlers, Google Cloud customers, and billions of Google users worldwide.

We're the driving force behind Google's groundbreaking innovations, empowering the development of our cutting-edge AI models, delivering unparalleled computing power to global services, and providing the essential platforms that enable developers to build the future.

From software to hardware our teams are shaping the future of world-leading hyperscale computing, with key teams working on the development of our TPUs, Vertex AI for Google Cloud, Google Global Networking, Data Center operations, systems research, and much more.

Individual pay is determined by factors including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.

US: $192000 - $278000 (USD) + 20% bonus target + equity + benefits

  • Reconcile usable power and spatial capacity across global data center clusters, drive power oversubscription and spatial release strategies to maximize existing infrastructure, and manage cluster power reservations alongside machine demand to prevent capacity/deployment shortfalls.
  • Provide technical sign-off on space, power, and cooling feasibility, and evaluate custom capacity configurations, spatial reservations, and oversubscription exceptions.
  • Collaborate with site-specific teams to oversee audits and resolve deployment blockers around space, power, and network reservation constraints.
  • Scale capacity automation planning by advocating the software, data pipeline, and dashboard requirements, and guide requirements and adoption of proprietary spatial, power, and topology simulation tools.
  • Collaborate across teams to align capacity policies/roadmaps, and mediate complex trade-offs across competing product area needs.
