The Nursing Services Manager is responsible for the Wellness Coordination program as well as supervising and managing nursing operations in a select area. This position develops and monitors the oversight of medical policies and procedures used within Dungarvin and ensures they meet all licensing requirements.
The Nursing Services Manager will assure that each individual receives quality, individualized health care management resulting in optimal health.
WHAT YOU GET TO DO:
- Develop, manage, and grow the Wellness Coordination services.
- Effectively supervise and manage the nursing staff.
- Ensure the completion and/or review of the Wellness Assessment, Risk Mitigation Tool, and Wellness Plan for each individual receiving Wellness Coordination services.
- Ensure face-to-face visits are occurring and documented as outlined in the DDRS Wellness Coordination Guide.
- Provide leadership and direction in promoting the concepts set forth in the organization’s mission, policies and procedures.
- Assure consistency and quality of health care services for people receiving Dungarvin services.
- Act as a resource to area directors, program directors and nursing staff regarding medical issues, rules, and regulations that govern medical care in the programs.
- Provide consultation to area directors and program directors to determine appropriate nursing services for new consumers.
- Assist in setting up health care systems in new programs.
- Provide nursing oversight to individuals supported by Dungarvin.
- Ensure that health care and related documentation meet licensure requirements, organizational policy, and individual needs
MUST HAVES:
- Active Indiana RN License: Must be a Registered Nurse with a current, unrestricted license to practice nursing in the State of Indiana.
- Strong Communication Skills: Ability to clearly document care, interpret and follow healthcare plans, communicate clinical information, and collaborate effectively with staff, individuals served, families, providers, and other members of the care team.
- Supervisory Experience: At least 1 year of experience leading, supervising, coaching, or developing nursing or healthcare staff.
- Valid Driver’s License: Must have a valid driver’s license and be comfortable traveling between programs as needed.
- Successful Background Clearance: Employment is contingent upon successful completion of all required background and compliance checks.
NICE TO HAVE:
- Prior nursing experience supporting individuals with intellectual, developmental, physical, or behavioral disabilities.
- Experience working in ICF/IID, Medicaid waiver, group home, supported living, or other community-based residential settings.
- Previous experience supervising nurses, LPNs, or other clinical staff.
- Experience training DSPs or other non-clinical staff on health-related needs, medication administration, signs/symptoms, and care procedures.
- Working knowledge of healthcare plans, nursing assessments, medication management, MARs, and physician orders.
- Experience collaborating with physicians, pharmacies, guardians, program leadership, case managers, behavior specialists, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Strong experience with clinical documentation, electronic health records, and maintaining accurate, audit-ready records.
- Experience developing or improving nursing systems, protocols, policies, or quality-assurance processes.
- Previous on-call leadership experience and comfort providing clinical guidance during evenings, weekends, or urgent situations.

- Clinical Judgment & Problem-Solving: Quickly assess health concerns, identify changes in condition, respond to incidents, and determine appropriate clinical next steps.
- Communication: Clearly explain medical information to nurses, DSPs, families, and non-clinical team members while collaborating effectively with physicians, pharmacies, program leadership, and interdisciplinary teams.
- Attention to Detail: Maintain accurate healthcare plans, medication records, physician orders, assessments, documentation, and compliance requirements.
- Prioritization & Time Management: Balance urgent clinical needs, staff questions, documentation, appointments, audits, trainings, and follow-up responsibilities across multiple programs.
- Leadership & Staff Development: Supervise, coach, train, and support nursing staff while helping non-clinical employees build confidence and competency around health-related responsibilities.
- Regulatory Compliance & Quality Assurance: Ensure nursing services meet ICF/IID, Medicaid waiver, licensing, medication-management, documentation, and organizational standards while maintaining audit and survey readiness.
- Adaptability & Resilience: Stay calm and flexible when responding to medical emergencies, staffing concerns, changing client needs, regulatory updates, and competing priorities.
- Integrity & Accountability: Maintain confidentiality, follow nursing standards and organizational policies, address concerns promptly, and take ownership of clinical outcomes and follow-through.
- Collaboration & Relationship Building: Build strong working relationships with individuals served, families, nurses, DSPs, physicians, guardians, pharmacies, and program leaders to support consistent care.
- Education & Training: Translate complex medical information into practical, easy-to-understand guidance and provide effective training to both clinical and non-clinical staff.
- Self-Starter & Initiative: Proactively identify gaps in healthcare systems, training, documentation, or service delivery and implement improvements before they become larger concerns.
- Person-Centered Care: Balance clinical needs, safety, individual rights, preferences, and independence when making healthcare recommendations and supporting care planning.
