CAE Australia is seeking expressions of interest from experienced military and civilian aviation professionals for four (4) C-130J Simulator Pilot Instructor positions supporting the Royal Australian Air Force's C-130J training capability.
These opportunities are ideal for individuals looking to leverage their operational flying and instructional experience in a highly rewarding training environment while continuing to contribute to Australia's air mobility capability. Successful candidates will join a professional team delivering world-class simulation-based training to C-130J aircrew.
About the Role
Reporting to the Lead Instructor, the C-130J Simulator Pilot Instructor is responsible for delivering simulator and classroom instruction for Pilot Initial Qualification, upgrade and currency training programs. The role also supports student assessment, courseware development, quality initiatives and aviation safety activities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering C-130J simulator instruction, briefings and debriefings.
- Conducting classroom instruction and ground school events.
- Assessing, mentoring and supporting trainee progress.
- Maintaining instructor qualifications and currency requirements.
- Contributing to continuous improvement, training development, quality management and aviation safety initiatives.
Essential Requirements
- Qualifications and experience necessary to be authorised by the Commanding Officer, RAAF Central Flying School, as a competent Simulator Pilot Instructor.
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (or ability to obtain).
- Minimum two (2) years' experience as a Military Qualified Flying Instructor (QFI) or Operational Flying Instructor (OFI) in an aircrew training environment;
OR
- Minimum 1,000 command hours on multi-engine, multi-crew tactical transport aircraft such as the C-130J, C-27J or similar aircraft.
- Ability to complete the ground training elements of the C-130J Pilot Conversion Course.
- Australian Citizenship.
- Eligibility to obtain and maintain an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
Highly Desirable
- Previous C-130J instructional experience.
- Military QFI or OFI qualifications.
- Experience in flight simulation instruction.
- Previous instructional experience within military or tactical airlift operations.
