About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Telematics Software Engineer to design, develop, and deliver connected-vehicle software across two vehicle domains: Commercial Vehicle / Off-Highway (trucks, buses, construction, and agricultural machinery) and Passenger Car.

You will own features end-to-end on the Telematics Control Unit (TCU) — from vehicle-network data acquisition through edge processing to cloud connectivity — and adapt platform software to the distinct protocols, duty cycles, and regulatory requirements of each segment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain embedded telematics software on TCU platforms (Embedded Linux / RTOS) for both CV/OHW and Passenger Car programs.
  • Develop vehicle-network interfaces: CAN / CAN-FD, J1939 and FMS (CV), ISOBUS / ISO 11783 (OHW), and OEM-specific signal matrices, UDS (ISO 14229) and DoIP diagnostics (Passenger Car).
  • Implement connectivity and cloud communication: 4G/5G modem integration, GNSS, MQTT/HTTPS telemetry pipelines, and device management with AWS IoT / Azure IoT or equivalent.
  • Build and maintain OTA (FOTA/SOTA) update mechanisms, remote diagnostics, and fleet-management data services.
  • Implement regulatory and safety-related features: eCall / ERA-GLONASS, tachograph and driver-data interfaces (CV), and emissions/usage monitoring data reporting.
  • Apply automotive cybersecurity (ISO/SAE 21434, UNECE R155/R156) and support functional safety activities (ISO 26262) where applicable.
  • Own features end-to-end: requirements analysis, architecture, implementation, unit/integration testing, vehicle-level validation, and issue resolution in the field.
  • Collaborate with OEM customers, cloud/backend teams, hardware engineers, and suppliers; support SOP milestones and field escalations.
  • Mentor junior engineers and drive code quality through reviews, CI/CD, and static analysis.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronics Engineering, or related field.
  • 5–8 years of embedded software development in automotive, telematics, or IoT, with strong C/C++ (C++14 or later); Python for tooling and test automation.
  • Proficiency with automotive tooling: Vector CANoe/CANalyzer, bus analyzers, debuggers (JTAG/Lauterbach), Git, CI/CD.
  • Hands-on experience with Embedded Linux (Yocto/Buildroot) and/or RTOS on ARM-based platforms.
  • Experience with cellular connectivity (LTE/5G modems, AT command / RIL integration), GNSS, and cloud protocols (MQTT, TLS, REST).
  • Experience with OTA update frameworks and secure boot / secure communication concepts.
  • Strong debugging skills across embedded, network, and cloud boundaries; able to work directly with vehicles and test benches.
  • Solid knowledge of vehicle networks and protocols: CAN / CAN-FD, J1939, UDS, DoIP; experience with at least one of ISOBUS, FMS, or Automotive Ethernet / SOME-IP.
  • Familiarity with Automotive SPICE or comparable structured development processes.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience delivering telematics features in both commercial vehicle/off-highway and passenger car programs.
  • Experience working with global OEM customers and multi-site development teams.
  • Experience with eCall / ERA-GLONASS, digital tachograph (EU 165/2014), or emissions telematics (e.g., OBD-over-telematics, China GB17691).
  • AUTOSAR Classic or Adaptive experience; Android Automotive or QNX exposure.
  • Knowledge of ISO/SAE 21434, UNECE R155/R156 (cybersecurity) and ISO 26262 (functional safety).
  • V2X (DSRC / C-V2X), edge analytics, or vehicle data platforms (e.g., COVESA VSS).
